Now that I have things set up with my TM warthog for DCS (well duh, it's automatic), and since I just picked up the PMDG 737NGX for FSX, I thought I could use my Warthog to control a lot of the stuff... especially the dual engines. My problem is getting it to work right.

The big question here is, if I get a profile for FSX in TARGET, will this completely erase the usage in DCS unless I create a new profile by hand within Target?

Thanks!

Edit: I also have an issue where the right throttle works fine, but the left one doesn't go to full idle or full thrust. In DCS it works just fine.

EDIT: I have found the fix for the throttles. In the options, both throttles need to be set to "sensitivity to full and the null to none" on the sliders.

Here's a question... Are you good with the target software? Foxy.was easy for me, but I have no idea how to write these scripts how I would want them. I did manage to get a few buttons to work from within FSX, but setting something like the APU switch to off isn't recognized. On does, but off doesn't.

Hog:

- Start the TARGET GUI

- At the top click "NEW CONFIGURATION"

- Type in an appropriate name (like FSX-NGX or FSX-whatever or whatever you think can help you remember what it's for)

- Select type: "ADVANCED" (IMPORTANT!!!)

- Select a location where you want it to be saved

- Click ok

- In the next screen you can select what controllers you want to use with this profile

- Once you've selected them, click next

- In the following screen you can set deadzones / curves and whatnot, unless you want to, just click next. This takes you to the main screen

You can see a 3D image of your selected controller in the left. In the bottom left you've got a slider called "Change controller". This let's you change the controller that you want to profile. And the "save" function which speaks for itself.

In the middle you can manipulate the various functions and features for each button. I'll go over how to choose a button later.

The layers does the same as Saitek for the mode switch, and the shift function. Don't know how it works, I don't use it :). If you want to know how to use it, RTFM :)

- Control: this is where you select your button that you want to assign.

- From the 3D image on the left, click and hold on the button that you want to assign, and drag it to where it says "Drag&drop" in the middle part. Now the button will be available for programming.

To the right of that you van see "Press" and "Release". This sets if you want the command that you are going to set later is commanded at the PUSH of the button (i.e. PRESS) or at the release of the button/switch.

- Event name, speaks for itself (I.e. TO/GA, SPD-BRK, etc.)

- Key command: This is where you enter the keycommand. If it does not work properly in the main screen, hit the "Virtual game/keyboard/mouse" button and it will popup a new self-explanitory screen.

- Type:

Pulse = like a keypress

Hold = the keycommand is held down, untill you release the switch/button

Press = the keycommand but held down, untill a

Release = release the specified keycommand (generally the same as the Press command)

- Delay: speaks for itself

- Sequence: If you want the same button/switch to generate various keycommands in a (you guest it!) sequence, use this.

For instance: push the button/switch once, it generates a "G" command, push it again it generates a "F" command, push it again it goes back to a "G" command, etc.. etc.. (not limited to 2 commands, can be up to as many as you need/want)

- Comment: self explanetory

- IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!

When you are done, hit the "ADD EVENT" button! If you don't press it you'll lose everything!

At the right part of the screen you can see ALL the assignments you have done. Experiment with that, you'll figure it out.

If you are done, hit SAVE bottom left, and hit finish. However, if you want to test your profile, you can hit "Run configuration" in the centre of the screen. Don't be alarmed if it takes a minute or so. It's doing it's thing :)

Now the profile is running!

Hit "Event tester", and here you can test the keycommands to see if they do what you want them to do.

Hit STOP to close the profile.

That's pretty much all there is to it.

Say you have your profile done, and you want to run it. Start the GUI, and on the left you can see 2 tabs named "Custom" and "Stock". Set it to custom and you can see all your profiles. Select the one you want to run and hit START.

That's it!

Easy :D

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Also buried in the Target installation are some scripts for Lock-On which may help you figure out how things work if you move beyond the GUI.

BTW, the script manual has a few slightly significant errors so if it appears to contradict itself just go with what works or makes sense.

Geez MTF, I'm thinking I need to send you an update checklist for free (you still have the first version I sent you right?). Thanks for that, and Dime, if I need more help I'll be sure to ask! I'll test this out in the morning. I just got home from loading a few cargo planes at the airport, and I'm off to bed!!
