Azazel Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This, I'm sure has been said before. But what this sim could really use is some Hesco barriers and T-wall with the ability to be in the mission editor and draw a square or series of lines and then once in the mission those lines are displayed as a Hesco or T-wall barrier. This would make the building of objectives and bases much easier. Thx. http://www.hesco.com/apps.asp My Rig: EVGA GTX 1070 x 2 | EVGA x58 SLI classified | i7 X 990 CPU | 24 GB RAM | Windows 10 Home 64 bit| Track IR Pro | CH Fighter Stick | CH Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Speed Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) Also, it would be nice to have a new kind of object we an place in the mission editor, a TERRAIN TILE or TERRAIN BACKGROUND or something like that. That way, we can have the terrain that the base sits on actually LOOK like a base. Right now, it looks ridiculous to build a big base, but have the background terrain that it sits on look like an unsullied wheat field or grassland. We need to give the background terrain the "beaten earth" look. Edited November 3, 2011 by Speed Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 18, 2012 ED Team Posted October 18, 2012 Just wanted to bump this thread, building a mission at the moment and wanted to build enclosures for a FARP started to use containers as walls, however this is no good as the containers will explode if hit and burn for ages. We really need a Twall or Hesco wall for the Sim, that has a damage model but does not burn. P.S We also need a 3d editor or actual size items in the 2d editor :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Isegrim Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 At the end we need a new 3D rendered Editor with all those stuff written above. "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
PFunk1606688187 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Yea, it would nice since its pretty hard to even place static objets on the ramps in reference to the taxi lines without having to launch the game just to find out its off, then try not to overcorrect. I tend to be one of those anal people who'll spend hours tweaking a base layout. When making training camps for my Arma2 clan I was only saved by the proportional images that go with the statics that are semi-accurate in that editor. To be honest a lot of editing could be helped just by having a toggle option for placeable objects which turns them into a 2 dimensional Top-Down drawn representation in scale to the ground so that you can see where it lines up. Pair that with the ability to also toggle on Airfield textures in the editor so we can see where all the painted lines etc are and it could save huge amounts of time for the detail obsessed. IL-2 has the semi-functional system of displaying map until you zoomed in a certain amount at which point ground textures were rendered top-down, but this was a mixed blessing as it could slow things down. Best option really is the ability to toggle textures on and off, toggle aircraft/statics/etc either as 2D or full 3D representations as well. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Speed Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I used a script to automatically place down brown container boxes down on a perimeter defined by a set of Vec2 points. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing. I'll see if I can adapt it into something more user-friendly than it currently is. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 16, 2013 ED Team Posted January 16, 2013 Nice speed ! Speed Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Nice speed ! The trouble I find with containers is they blow up, which is not ideal thanks for sharing :) I don't understand- you mean that in real life, everything doesn't explode and burn for 10 minutes when it is destroyed?!?! Clearly, you're wrong. The containers are filled with the orange/red barrels from all of the other games. Yea, they were the shipping containers holding all the explosive barrels that had been stockpiled for use in Half Life 2: Episode 3. SOMETHING had to be done with them.
