I was watching the flying tiger tutorial video concerning cluster bombs, from the hud ' CCIP 5mil' was selected, can anyone explain this, is there only 5mil, and is it just for cluster bombs, I'm not being lazy but with young children around and a very large manual, this can cut corners. Keep up the good work on the training videos chaps they are concise and easy to understand, its just the 5mil thats thrown me, thanks in advance

There is 5 mil and 3/9. With 5 mil you have to get the Steering line on the small pipper. With 3/9 you only need the line in the big circle. 5mil is more accurate when using Dumb bombs but harder as well. You can change this from the IFFCC Test menu I think.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Yep, it's in the IFFCC Menu on the HUD look for "Consent to release" around page 372 in the manual for detail.

EDIT: And around 357 on how to set it up

One thing you should know, is this little bug with the Mavericks not firing:

If using Consent to Release Modes the MAVs may not fire... you have to switch back to "normal" first.

This is a known bug and shall be fixed in the next patch.

Probably also worth explicitly noting that the 5 mil and 3/9 CR (consent to release) modes don't affect CCIP delivery itself - if the calculated impact point is actually within your view on the HUD you'll get the usual symbology with the solid line, and the weapons will release as soon as you hit the pickle button.

When one of the CR modes is enabled, you get some additional functionality: if the impact point is off the HUD, you'll get a broken line to the pipper. You put the broken-line pipper over the target as usual for CCIP, but you need to hold down the weapon release button. That designates your target, and you'll get CCRP-style steering to your release point. So long as you keep the weapon release button held the entire time, once you reach the right place your weapons will release.

As Jona33 says, the particular CR submode just affects how accurate your run-in needs to be in order for the weapons to release.

Edit: oh, I made a video ages ago that goes through the various CCIP bombing methods. Here's a link.

Just to clarify, in 3/9 mode, the weapon will release when the pipper passes the 3/9 line of the solution cue, REGARDLESS of aiming error. The solution cue does NOT need to pass through the CCIP reticle.
