Shaman Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I do not mind 20$ for having DCS Ka-50 upgraded to latest DCS engine version. Such engine upgrade is worth these 20$. I do not understand Eagle Dynamics software releases though and the way we must install them. It is so annoying. Why not release a base DCS package that is core engine and allows only to play and observe AIs, and release theaters and flyable aircraft or whatever as add on packages. Release the core engine with an auto-patcher/troubleshooter that keeps tracks of all the file versions and file/folder structure while allowing mods to be selected from separate custom folder tree, while keeping everything simple to one install folder and one UI! Saves us end-users disc space lots of trouble tweaking each DCS sim independently. 1 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

GGTharos Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 As Wags posted previously, ED is looking into a way to integrate DCS. As usual, no promises, and of course it won't happen overnight, either. Hellfire257 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 It's good to know it's being looked into though. It should make things much simpler for us and the dev team. :)

Selective memory is a wonderful thing, especially when certain posts simply disappear into the ether never to be seen again, unless I have a copy of the original post copied and pasted into word documents and saved .... just in case :) Am I an abusive idiot ? spikenet Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 +1 A folder with all shared core files then the module have seperate folders for their content. I'm sure this is where ED want to take it but I cant begin to imagine the support headaches to do it. ie: make update to core files then have to update ALL modules! In this age of huge storage drives an extra 10-20gig is nothing to worry about Good luck ED!
Krippz Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 +1 Good luck ED getting it sorted though :-| [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Beagle One Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) +1 This is exactly how I exspected a DCS to work. Had I known before how it is done now I had skipped it from the beginning. And I really, really, really miss the crimean peninsula and the Su-25/T in the DCS world now. I had wished that a DCS would keep what is already in, not deleting content to add another. Ghillied raptor Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 +1 This is exactly how I exspected a DCS to work. Had I known before how it is done now I had skipped it from the beginning. And I really, really, really miss the crimean peninsula and the Su-25/T in the DCS world now. I had wished that a DCS would keep what is already in, not deleting content to add another. As technological improvements allow for more realistic simulators, DCS would get left behind. Wouldn't you agree? Far better to allow a few modules to gracefully age while allowing others to be as modern and realistic as possible.
Shaman Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 I had to revive it just to give a big credit and hug to my beloved ED friend since 1996 with YOU!
