Live the pc over night ,and you will have the torrent on your pc when you wake up.

Hi,

I can normally download at speeds of 700/800kb per sec but the torrent was doing 5.

Run the MD5 checker program. Once opened, left-click and drag the files one by one and put them into the MD5 Program window. It will give you a value for each file that needs to correspond with the values provided on the website.

Check all 4 files and see if one is not corrupted.

Note on the Torrent, to explain:

The advantage of the torrent is that it automatically hash-checks everything - that is, it checks every little bit it downloads with a hash to make sure it's correct.

Regarding download speeds, having it report a low speed in the beginning is 100% normal. What it is doing is hooking up to a server called a "tracker", this server keeps "track" of everyone using that torrent. This then allows your machine to tell other people using the torrent that you'd like the files, whereafter everyone starts sending the file to everyone.

So, advantages:

1 - Practically zero risk of corrupt download

2 - Not dependent on individual servers (aside from the tracker, but as long as you got through to it once you can actually continue DL even without it)

Disadvantage:

It will take a while before it starts speeding up, since it has to get hold of the other people that are running the torrent. So do NOT just start it, leave it for two minutes, read "5kb/s" and think that that is the speed it's going to be operating at. It has only just started and should speed up shortly as soon as it gets hold of enough "peers".

At present I see 22 "seeders" (that is, people who have the files completed and are just sitting there uploading) and 13 "leechers" (that is, people who are downloading). It should thus pick up pretty quick, but again, do NOT just look at the initial speed and discount it. That's not how torrents work.

If really low speeds persist, it's usually a network configuration problem. (My previous, hardware, firewall didn't like BT, for example.)

Hi EtherealN,

Thanks for that info. I have never used this sort of download before so a little bit nerves in what to expect. As you will see I had two files which had incorrect MD5 numbers I have just got the first one and that matches to what I should have, so now I am going to wait and see how the second one goes, if that comes through OK and I am still getting errors then I will give the torrent thing a go over night. Lets just keep the fingers crossed and hope this sorts it out. Timm

Hi Guys,

All downloaded and numbers all match to what they should be and still getting the "Please insert Disk 1" so I am lost now. Will I still get this problem if I use the torrent way?

If all file names are correct, and all md5 hashes are correct, torrent won't help. Something else is causing the installer to not find the .bin files.

Possible "bandits" here would be web browser renaming files (you doublechecked that I suppose though), another possibility is anti-virus program throwing a hissy. I know my Norton 360 was a bit skeptical about the files (since they were new) and kept asking me whether I really wanted to use them for real, and if your AV does the same but without asking - rather directly intercepting the access - that could be it. I'd say try disabling AV and installing. Obviously, you'll want to ensure you're not connected to the internet at that time.

Hi Guy's

Everything I have doubled checked. The new downloads go straight into a download folder. I have even turned off my AV and still its' asking for Disk 1. I have noticed that when I first start the exe file it states that the publisher could not be verified and an unknown publisher, is that correct? Timm

Timm,

Rightclick the window, then select View, then Details. Youy should get to see something similar to the picture below. Ignore the different file name, they're from a different installer, just note explicit .bin. This is a windows setting and your windows might be configured to just not display that, but if they are not properly saved as .bin then they will not be found and you'll get that error.

That security warning is nothing to worry about.

A couple of ideas.

Try downloading just the .exe file again and delete the old one and replace it. Also try placing all the installer files in a single folder on the root. Like C:\DCS then run the install from there.

Maybe I missed it but what operating system are you using 7 or Vista? Are you installing under an administrators account?

BINGO

OK Did yet another download on the exe file but this time took it from a German site, and hey its' working. Very strange how the USA one's were causing the problems.
