rnm2000 Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Im tired of using my $20 logitech Joystick,,im planing to buy the best joystick around available.Any suggestions what to buy and its prizes? tnks
SuperKungFu Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 You definitely need a HOTAS so I recommend the Saitek X-52 joystick. It performs and looks awesome. Price is pretty decent, around $130 in stores but I got mine for $100 from newegg.com and it has no flaws. If $100 is a little over budget then go for the X-45 (around $70). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
192nd_Erdem Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Go for X-52,I just got it last week and it's awesome :)
Guest Cali Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 CH is very very good, but it cost about $100 bucks a piece for the stick, throttle and rudder pedals. But it is well worth it I love mine!
BearF_CO_159th Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 X-45 here. A little stiff when new (stop laughing at the back) but a good HOTAS 'on the cheap'. If your budget is up to it the X-52 seems to have good a community rep (and has nice lights on it too....if your easily pleased lol)
Force_Feedback Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 X-45 here. A little stiff when new (stop laughing at the back) but a good HOTAS 'on the cheap'. Not to mention the various "lubrication" threads we had on that subject :P I'd go for a Saitek x-52, or any other stick other than Logitech, because, after having had 4 Wingmans, in 3 years which all broke down after a month, I got to say I'm not very pleased with Logitech. (the pots wear out damn fast). I'm a happy owner of a Saitek Cyborg EVO for more than 2 years now :D Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Revvin Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I've owned Saitek, Thrustmaster and Microsoft sticks but they are not in the same league as my current CH Products USB gear in my opinion. In two years this rig has not let me down once and all the buttons and axis feel just as they did the day I took them out of the box. CH Products has a 25 year history making industrial and aviation controls so I guess it's no surprise their kit is so durable and reliable. It costs a bit more than some other brands but in my opinion it's worth it as they are a long term investment.

So true revvin i have had my ch usb throttle stick and pedals since 1999 i believe I have never had a problem it was a good investment
S77thFever Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I use CH USB combatstick 568, pro throttle and pro pedals and have been very satisfied with their performance. You will also get top notch support through the CH Hanger which is frequented by the people who design, build and write software for this hardware. Fever
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 2nd x45 here, but i will admit they are stiff when new and need a lil touch of loooooooob
rnm2000 Posted September 4, 2005 Author Posted September 4, 2005 Hi guys, Tnks for your replies,,it will surely help me in selecting what stick to buy....Tnks very much hope to see you in the sky at HL with my new stick. :) =RvE= jr
zorlac Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 X-45 here, but with a "slight" mod. I have a long term injury that flares up every now and then (big motorcycle crash 12 years ago, shattered my right thumb in 6 places, plus my wrist), and found that the return to centre spring was too hard, so much so that I had to put my hand in ice (no, the cold Ice, not 169th_Ice :) ) to stop the swelling. So, I took the black plate at the base of the stick and ripped it out totally, then gaffer taped the spring up. Bingo... zero return to centre force, no pain in my wrist/thumb anymore, and with the added advantage that minor flight trimming adjustments are done on the joystick rather than having to adjust the real trim settings. Next HOTAS will be a x-52, which has a much lighter force on the spring, but might remove that too....
