ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 24, 2011 ED Team Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Hi all Was wondering if anyone uses or has an opinion about projectors ? I currently use a 37" samsung as my hud screen and my 19" samsung as my helios profile. Would using a projector as the HUD screen work ? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 25, 2011 Author ED Team Posted November 25, 2011 I am guessing projectors are not a good idea as no one has replied : ) basically I want a wider HUD screen but I do not see the point of going crossfire or SLI due to the extra expense of running three screens and with poor results in fps. I may just look for a widescreen monitor and do away with the 37"samsung as the highest resolution I am getting is 1360x768 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Jinja Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I am guessing projectors are not a good idea as no one has replied : ) I don't think that's a legitimate conclusion ;-) I would say it's not so common because of simple complexity / cost / space requirements. I'm planning a move myself from 3x19"LCDs to 3x100" projectors. Have played with NTHUSIM and it's amazing how easy it is to blend / warp 3D games... the big downside for me is the cost. That's the only potential road-block. i7@3.5Ghz, ATI 5870, 16GB RAM, win7 64bit, TH2GO, Track-IR, 4screen pit, TM WArthog HOTAS
bluepilot76 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I have seen them used in some of the big homebuilt cockpits that people make for 737 in FSX so you could try asking over on Avsim. I always thought it would be a good idea but apparently its very expensive for a good bright projector, meanwhile flatscreens are getting bigger and cheaper and with smaller bezels. eagledeer Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) I've used a 1024x768 projector since 2002. It was good for a while, but I didn't like being forced to play in the dark. It was also 'fuzzy', and small font was hard to read. I'm sure that would all be solved with higher res, but going 1920x1024 on a 46" Samsung LCD has been a huge, huge improvement. No loss in immersion at all. Just my 2 cents. Edited December 6, 2011 by eagledeer
PoleCat Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Projectors can be pretty cool but they need to have high resolution and be be very bright for most to find them acceptable by todays standards. Even better is a pair of them for true stereoscopic 3D. Wish I was rich. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
