pcalvert Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Does anyone know how to shut your wingman up? I've been practicing landings and Nav with instruments. I picked a field from the divert page - when trying to land my wingman kept saying over and over something about wheels up (as well as flying in front of me). Does anyone know how to keep him quiet? One other thing - my ILS doesn't seem to work (it must be something I'm doing wrong) I programe the channel and switch ILS on on the nav panel (where EGI etc are) also switch the ILS on! I can hear the tone but the bars don't seem to work. Can anyone help? Thanks :) Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
Kula66 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Get him to 'Anchor here' before you start your approach, then when you are on the ground get him to land ... the idiot also crashes into you fairly regularly too! Are the bars locked? There is a switch above that nav panel to unlock them.
pcalvert Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 is there? What is the switch called? (or is a that a stupid question)?.. and yes I did a two hour mission the other day and he took damage... then crashed into me as I was about to land!!! sobek Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 the idiot also crashes into you fairly regularly too! You have to be aware of where your wingman is and maneuver accordingly, then you should be fine. Your wingman isn't psychic, if you yank into his maneuvering space, there's a chance your are going to kill both of you. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
ALDEGA Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Does anyone know how to shut your wingman up?You *could* turn off the UHF radio ...
FreeFall Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 is there? What is the switch called? There are letters "PTR" above the switch. Left side of the switch: A B L E Right side: S T O W The able enables the bars.
Kula66 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 You have to be aware of where your wingman is and maneuver accordingly ... He usually gets me on approach ... I'm seconds from touchdown after flying a long, constant, slow course for a couple of minutes down the glide slope and suddenly BANG! Just easier to keep him out of the way!
sobek Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Just easier to keep him out of the way! Exactly, you have to issue an RTB command so he knows he can break formation. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Landing with AI is really broken I wish they would fix it.
sobek Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Landing with AI is really broken I wish they would fix it. There's an easy fix, don't try formation landings. ;) They are about as unrealistic as it gets, anyway. Sure would be nice to be able to perform an overhead break though. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
HiJack Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 No problem at all landing together with the wingman. Just keep your speed up all the way on the approach and all is fine. 155 is the best speed. Works every time ;)
