Without getting too political, I am referring to the current escalation over Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program.

An interesting post in the russian part of the forums showing some iranian "potentially"-stealth aircraft models. No doubt the RQ-170 will boost their knowledge on stealth but still I think the russians and chinese will better benefit from getting their hands on it :)

Isn't this an act of war? A military aircraft flying secretly over a country and without permission from that country.

 

Hmm ... I wonder how would we interpret Iranian military UAV's flying over Texas.

Iran was flying UAV's over Afganistan ... USAF/USN aircraft tailed it for an hour before shooting it down. Isn't that an act of war as well? And chronologically, Iran did so first.

 

In any case, the rub is that the CIA claims they never flew into Iran, and apparently the UAV malfunctioned and did so on its own. Can you really tell who's telling the truth? I can't.

Interesting IranDefence thread I must say. I was very involved and impressed of the theme. With such great thought up storyline author has great chance to make movies in Hollywood, category sci-fi :D

I think these units are a part of the swarm tactic that Iranians developed against US naval forces.

 

If they can fit them with some sort of crude torpedo-/missile-launching capability, concentrating a few hundred, or even thousand of these hornets on a single target could pose a significant threat.

 

It'd be like playing Space Invaders for sailors manning the guns on the CV :D

They have three squadrons. What hundreds or thousand? In any case, the concept is certainly interesting in terms of a light, fast patrol 'boat'. Very good for monitoring borders, dealing with smuggling etc.

 

They'd never reach a CV anyway.
