[SOLVED] NOTHING works!!

Oban

Recommended Posts

I have a weird issue going on, I have the warthog HOTAS, and when I try to fly even in arcade mode, NOTHING , not a single keypress/throttle/joystick input woks, I can't change views, all that works is what I see in default view, I can click with the mouse, and you can see things happen like HUD changes etc, but the chopper flies straight, until it collides with the ground, I've unplugged the controls, and still no joy, totally unable to fly the aircraft.

Even Pause/break doesn't work, but as all other sims are fine ..

Can anyone help here?

Maybe try minimizing and re-maximizing? I've had weird issues related to that at times. Windows for some reason might not be treating DCS as the active window. Also, you could perhaps try full screen mode.

tried mate, there's no options to save any changes with this sim either, everytime I fire it up, the intro music bugs me..

even on arcade, there's zero things happening when I press all 4 billion buttons on the keypad LOL..

It feels like it's broken, and there's no change after the patch was applied either

Did you copy an old configuration file from Black Shark 1 into Black Shark 2?

If no, a DxDiag would be helpful.

yeah will try that, tried deleting EVERYTHING in the input settings, redone axis control, which worked within that menu, but as soon as it enters the game, the default view pans out, and not a single keystroke works, you can't hear "anything" clicking.

I even have a the DCS Black Shark setting running through T.A.R.G.E.T to no avail, I've had it running in the background, closed it, re checked it's working, but as soon as I'm in the cockpit... it's deader than a dead thing

yeah will try that

Actually, it was a question, not a suggestion. Copying files from BS1 to BS2 is not recommended as it will introduce errors, and I was wondering if this was a possible cause for the problem you are experiencing.

I deleted every keystroke under the basic contorols options for my hardware and then used the add keys from one of the forum members here.. nothing worked, I cannot fly even with the controllers unplugged..

JG14, nothing stuck, brand new keyboard/desktop..

I'm not having any controller issues with FSX either, I'm able to calibrate and check axis fine, just this one isn't doing a damn thing, with or without controllers attached...

With the game turned off;

Navigate to C:\Users\XXXXXXX\Saved Games\DCS BlackShark 2\Config

(Assuming you run 7)

When there, delete the Input folder.

Then restart the game.

Why not just try renaming the whole Saved Games/Black Shark 2 folder? If that doesn't fix it, you can always name it back if you want.

And like Eth said, a dxdiag would be nice... for all we know, you're trying to run this on an Ipad. Ok, a little of an overstatement, but there have been tech support threads on here before where the user having problems because they were using a hopelessly out-of-date machine.

Yeah I get ya, but the HOTAS works on other games and sims, what I'm experiencing here is a total inability to do anything even when they're not plugged in, I can't even fly it via keyboard

It done nothing, when you talk about seeing a dxdiag, are you wanting to see the full report?

I'm doing a complete uninstal and patch then see if it resolves anything

Ok a fresh install and patch seems to have done the trick..

Oban...

Seriously: Throw us a frickin' bone!

Of course he wants the full Dxdiag.txt...

...the info where your problem is could be simply anywhere -judging by the (poor) info we have right know.

Please re-read your last postings - and your answers to the questions of others -and just judge yourself what we know right now...

This thread reminds me of this:

:D

EDIT:

Sorry Oban- missed your last edit:

Ok a fresh install and patch seems to have done the trick..
But I leave my post as it is - maybe others read this and will see how not to do it.

And BTW:

This would come very handy here - [solved] in front of Thread titel.

Peter,

I apologise for not being tech savvy in this area, and attaching such things as dxdiagnostic files is all new to me, having never done it before..

I don't particularly want to read the do's and don't on etiquette and the exact way how things should be done, when I simply wanted to know if there was an issue with my game mate..

But I do understand where you're coming from, and if I can figure out ways to edit headings, I'll put the SOLVED part in front.

Whatever it was, uninstalling, then reinstalling and patching to 1.111 before doing anything seems to have worked ;)

I do appreciate ALL the help and responses though guys , time to get back into the cockpit and fly this beastie

No worries mate. But as a general note for the future, it is usually better to give too much information and risk including things that is unrelated than accidently remove or omit something that just might be "the thing". :)

Don't worry about it, I'll do it for you. :)

The edit only applied to your OP itself, not the thread though. I fixed that though. I'll check if it's possible to grant users that power for their own threads, but I suspect there's some deep underpinnings in the system that prevents such things from affecting the thread itself without use of "special powers".
