Cougar MFDs with DCS-A10C

Hi everyone! I have been looking at Thrustmaster's Cougar MFDs in the hope I can use them in DCS A-10. I was just wondering if people have done this in the community, if so how they have set it up and if they enjoy using them. Thanks in advance!

they can be used out of the box - the sim will recognize them and no further configuration is required.

 

after quite some time of having them with paper inserts i mounted them against second monitor . i'm very happy with this setup

Many people use them-great for immersion. Just plug and play, no need to set anything up. Highly recommended and great value for price. Buy from a place with high turn-over (amazon?) to make sure you get version 2 (version 1 had some teething problems). Most being sold now are version 2.

 

Edit: sniped. Mounting with second monitor as above is huge for immersion as well.

As said, they work great and the price usually is good. In fact, it must be the most buttons you can get per dollar in a game controller. Combine them with an inexpensive monitor and you have live MFCDs.

 

One of mine had a bad LED out of the box and replacement was quick and simple too.

I have got the MFD's since a few months ago and they work very well!

No setup required with DCS: A-10C.

 

It's easy to configure within other sims, too (read: FC2). It just acts like a 56-button game controller that you can assign key commands. Combined with the TARGET software you can program it endlessly alongside the HOTAS Warthog (or Cougar) either via GUI or script.

Hi I have just got a pair :) Does the software combine them into 1 device? I also do Il-2 and there is a 4 controller limit in that game. I know that one brand of controllers has a combine option (might be CH though)

TARGET combines all TM devices as one.

 

Note: TARGET is not required when running DCS: A-10C, but for other sims if you want to program your devices through TARGET you can and it'll combine them as one device.

I know this is a dated topic but I just have to say that your setup is really cool:thumbup:! Very ingenious:smilewink:!

thanks for the kind word. it was the first (now decommisioned) attempt, learned a lot and now doing better i think. if you find this setup ingenious you welcome to browse the home cockpit sub-section - there are things there are REALLY impressive.

The truth is, each time I see some of the "Ultra-Pits" that are out there, I get a little disheartened. I have the TM Warthog, Saitek Pedals, and TM MFD's, (I just got those), with a 25" monitor and at the moment I'm saving a lttle on the side for TIR Tracker 5.

 

I just saw some really kick-ass chopper pit assemblies that start at about $700 or so and go up rapidly from there. Very nice Cyclic, Collective, and Throttle setups with 3 screen capabilities.

 

My wife would think I went out of my mind but if I get a little more cash flow, I'm likely to go for one of those first. I like helicopters but I like planes almost as much so it's a hard decision.:doh:
