Caspet Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Hi all. Just changed my graphics card from my trusty Nvidia 260 gtx fo a Radion hd 6850 clocked at 875 Mhz with 11.12 Catalyst drivers but now my frame rate has dropped off. Would it help if I reinstalled A10 (I have used driver sweep to get rid of any rubbish left). Any ideas! Thanks peeps  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 A-10 reinstall would not be likely to help at all. This sounds like a driver issue. thinkr Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Yeas sounds like driver issue. When ever I get a new Card I always Reinstall OS. Yeah game reinstall might not help, but OS reinstall, likely will. Its just good practice, even Microsoft itself recommends a full reinstall of win XP OS every six months believe it or not. The registry is just not very well designed to stay clean or clean itself unlike server os's. I reinstall every year just to keep things fast. I would suggest you do the same. Always keep a seperate HD to backup your files and a different one for the OS. This makes things simple to backup and sweep the OS clean. Don't go spreading that kind of crap without sourcing. ;) Also, who cares about XP? It's an 11 years old OS. Only use that if your hardware is 11 years old. My system is one year and counting - and thatäs literally one year, since I only reboot when I suffer a power outage and similar. Caspet Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Hey Caspet, what settings do you currently have set in your CCC? P.S - good to see another essex guy on here :P Hi Mustang, good to see you here too  I've attached a screenie. The odd res setting is because my setup includes a 12" monitor for my MFD's. I've tried it with one screen but still get the same results. Any ideas? ps I'm off to bed now (gone 1 o/c) so won't be on till the morning, so don't think I'm being rude if thier's no reply till then. Kuky Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 First thing check you are not using Super-Sample AA in CCC, this impacts performance a lot... ise Adoptive AA instead (loooks good enough without much impact on performance), also use latest driver you can find (get it from AMD website), If all "easy" options fail (reinstall driver/game/etc) then I'd go for reinstalling OS. PeterP Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) @EtherealN - I got it now! :P Please disable "surface optimisation" in the A.I. settings. and see if that helps. eventing else looks legit to me. But also please post a DX-Diag. I'm also a little astonished why your attached image of the CCC is 3444x2408... I hope that's only because you opened it in a graphic program that opens a sheet of this size by default... Edited January 22, 2012 by PeterP
Caspet Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 The heck kind of screen resolution is that? 3444*? Used a formula I found on this forum to stretch over two monitors (1920x1080- 24" and a 1024x768-12") so I could place my MFD's on the latter in rediness for my "Cougar MFD's" (my soon to be birthday present). Is it wrong to do it this way? would it be better to use something like Helios. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

PeterP Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 please post simply a DX-Diag and the the"Daves MFDs".Lua so we can stop guessing. Up to now we know that you run two monitors side by side in 2944y1024px windowed. Did you followed any of the tips kuky and I gave you - and if yes - how is the result? He is referring to the screen-shot in of the CCC you posted. Please provide us some more numbers to help you. BTW: Helios isn't changing the render of DCS at all. - so there would be no help to include it, the frames would be only more worse.
Mustang Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Hmm everything in your CCC looks to be in order there Caspet, but that screen resolution is huge; a 1gb videocard of any type will struggle with that setting :)
Caspet Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 This is what i did then put it in the Config/MonitorSetup folderDaves mfd setup.lua Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee Muhammad Ali-(Cassius Clay) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PeterP Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) Ok- still don't know why this poor fps but here are my two cents: Use SoftTH to be able to run in full screen and get hopefully better frames. 1. align both screens like this and make sure the 1920x1080 is your primary. 2. copy "config.SoftTHconfig" and "d3d9.dll" into Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\bin 3.Set full screen and make sure your res is set to 2944x1080 and you have 2.725925925925926 as aspect-ratio. Than start the sim. 4. report if you have better frames optional: Fix for misplaced/stretched MP and Mission Gui - also for BS this means you have to add this code to your "Daves MFDs".lua : Gui ={ x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } UIMainView = Guiand copy the "focus.png" into Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Bazar\Effects\PostMotionEffect\NightVisionGoogle all files are attached. learn more about SoftTH: SoftTH NEWS Edit: use this as your Daves mfd setup.lua I added the multi-monitor fix and corrected your wrong aspect in camera. (sorry wasn't aware that you posted it in the meantime while I was writing this posting - so it is not included in the attachment) : _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Daves MFDs'); Description = 'Two monitor configuration'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.7777777777778; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 389; height = 389; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 2550; y = 0; width = 389; height = 389; } Gui = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } UIMainView = Gui Edited January 22, 2012 by PeterP

Caspet Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Eureka!!! It works. Turned off "surface optimisation", that made a difference. Thanks. Caspet Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Lemme get this straight, you have to turn something off in order for it to work?
