Kenan Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 If I load up my DCS A10 with active TARGET profile which will have only ONE custom button assigned (while the rest are unedited/left default), would that make the HOTAS work as usual ingame with only that one specific profile-preset button doing what I want it to do? I was thinking about assigning Gear Horn button to a Wheel brake and leave everything else as it is. I used to do this with X52 and it worked ok, wondering if the principle is the same with TARGET software. Thanks. FieroCDSP Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 You probably could do it in-game rather than in TARGET. Just select the "gear horn" space in the control assignments and clear it, then assign the button to the brakes (under "systems" at the bottom)

If you create a target profile then you must map each button/switch that you intend on using. If you wish to map it in game you will still have to use Target to tell the button which DX to send. It is not quite straight forward once you start using target. This is actually another thing that really needs to be fixed, before then next modules are released. There is a good post on the subject. I will try to find it. EDIT: Found it. This should explain a lot. Ask if you have more questions. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81222 Edited February 2, 2012 by cichlidfan ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Feed Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 The simple answer to your question is yes, you can configure it to operate the way you want. Your TARGET profile will tell each button to send it's default DX button assignment, except for the single button you want to program. But depending on what you actually want it to do, it may be easier to simply delete the in-game assignment for that button so it can be used for something else.
PeterP Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) If you only want to program the Buttons that are unused in DCS : Use Autohotkey ! Adding just one script to TM Warthog? Edited February 2, 2012 by PeterP

If you create/use a Targetprofile, you will also have to create a new combined lua file since some of the correct throttle panel functions will not be available with the default combined lua. 1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Feed Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 ^ what he said ... also true, because of the way DCS recognizes the Warthog button states. Thanks for the catch, cichlidfan!
spikenet Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Just to add to the above, if the "custom" single key is within the "game" then you dont need to use Target, its only if you want to map a keystroke outside the game. IE: Freetrack, TS3 etc you will need target or autohotkey. Just re-map the button within the game options. I think its worth setting up a target profile and making use of the shift function on the stick. That way you get all the default keys Plus unlimited extra,s. The Tempo and SEQ functions are great also! cheers

spikenet Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Shift function allows you to hold a key (ie: S4 paddle) and it "shifts" all the controls (if programmed) to perform a different function. you use the MAPKEYIO for simple shifting. The tempo and seq are functions that allow even more powerful programming. In my program if I hold the Paddle and hit S2 my sticks change the callibration of the axis, less sensitive. I hit that button combo again and it reverts to default. tempo allow you to have short and long key press to do different things. ie: I use gear horn on short press to send "eject" and long press for "gear up". With that I just hit it 3x short press to eject, or long press to toggle the gear. 1
