chinaiyf Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hi, Am getting ready to start flying A-10 and want to put together a proper system. Can I use this machine and add a new video card or should I put a machine together from scratch? Also, where is the best place to buy components from? Thanks! 1 x AMD Phenom II X4 820 / 2.8 GHz ( Quad-Core ) RAM 6 GB (installed) Hard Drive 1 x 640 GB ATI Radeon HD 5450

Best is if you get a cpu you can oc to 4 ghz. Cores above 2. Where to buy componets from, depends where you are... I'm also building now, and bought everything from amzon. Ps: welcome to the forum. Krebs20 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Chinayf, what country are you in? It helps us know what web sites to check prices on. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
chinaiyf Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Chinayf, what country are you in? It helps us know what web sites to check prices on. I am in the US. Thanks for all the great responses.
cichlidfan Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I am in the US. Since you are in the US the answers above pretty much cover it for me too. I buy from Amazon, NewEgg and Tiger Direct depending on who has the right price. Just price check (including shipping of course) before you order. I never know who is going to end up cheaper, though it is usually Amazon. I'm running a 2.8Ghz Phenom II X6 1055T which is absolutely fine. But obviously faster is better.
Bolt-1 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Chinaiyf, take a look @ the sigs of myself, Krebs20, and cichlidfan as far as putting a system together. and take a look around the forums. KaspeR32 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 chinaiyf, Have you thought about OC'ing your CPU? I only ask because I was running an Intel Q6600 @2.4Ghz for about 3-4 years. I then bought an aftermarket cooler and cranked it up to 3.0 - 3.25 Ghz and it made an enormous difference. The overclocked CPU and an HD5770 is still able to run things fairly smooth on my system even now. Although I did just bite the bullet and purchase an i5-2500k. ;) Intel i5-2500k @ 4.4GHz w/ H70 liquid cooler, ASRock PRO3-M Z68 Mobo, 32G 1600Mhz Mushkin RAM, EVGA GTX970 4GB , OCZ Agility 3 128g SSD, SanDisk 240g SSD, Win7 64-bit --Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/livingfood --
