I'm having some trouble with CCIP, I was flying the mission "Surrounded!" to get used to CCIP since I used to only use CCRP. I left everything at default settings (except changing to 3/9 mode) found the targets tilted down till the pipper was visible on the HUD held down weapon release and kept the pipper on the target, however when the count down thing got to ~3 seconds it slowed down a ton... and just stopped at 2 or 1 second and never released the bomb, what am I doing wrong?

Also, how do you set a point on the TAD as the SPI?

We need a track for your first issue. Re TAD, have to hook an object on TAD. Once hooked, set as SPI.

PS: You cannot mark a spot on the TAD with the hook and make it your SPI. It sucks, but yeah.. So only if something is there, like a waypoint, a friendly, markpoint, objective, etc n so forth.

What if theres a JTAC red triangle thing

Actually you can. Move the TAD cursor to the desired location and hit TMS right short to create a mark point, then set the mark point as SPI.

TMS forward short to hook it, then TMS forward long to set as SPIU.

Oh sweet!! I did not know you can set markpoints through the TAD!! Awesome!!

Yeah when I meant to say those things, I meant anything that is there thats not part of the map, you can hook it, so including the jtac triangle. I basically meant that you cannot hook empty space on the map and make it your spi, unless as eddie just said, you make a markpoint first, totally awesome!!

What about my problem with CCIP? Can anyone help me with that?

Without a track so we can see exactly what you are talking about and also see what you're doing wrong, no, not really.

So this sim is -veery- deep, and I might be missing something in it's complexity and depth.

but:

Why would you / do you think you could/would need to assign CCIP to an SPI/Target.

It's a visual delivery system, like the GAU-8 gun site. It more or less hits the location the tiny dot is pointing to. Continuously calculated impact point: X marks the spot, or in this case the dot.

Please correct me if I misunderstood

What I gathered from the tutorial is that in 3/9 mode you tilt downward until pipper is seeable, put pipper (or bottom center of hud) on target, hold weapon realease, and just keep the pipper on target

You dont assign a target using SPI etc in CCIP modes.

The default mode, manual release is you put the pipper on the target and press "release" to release.

The other two modes are " Consent to Release " set from the IFFCC. You put the pipper on the target, HOLD release and you can then climb up/away providing you put the Solution Cue through the pipper it will release and hit (near) the target :).

go grab topgun505 training missions, do the CCIP one and play with settings, put the game in unlimited ammo mode also!

cheers

I didnt read most of the replys but don't hold the pipper on the target. Doing so induces - G forces which screw up whatever it is that calculates the release point (an IMU?) instead dive until you can see the pipper and a solid line then reduce forward pressure on the stick allowing the plane to slowly climb, walk the target down the line until the pipper dot is on the target and then hit the release button. iIf your bomb lands within 10 feet from 1000 feet up thats good. I dont use ccip above 2000 feet on tanks.
