crankshaft Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I recently started using a second monitor for my MFDs in A10 as well as Helios for my cockpit. I noticed a significant drop in FPS, that is making me think of upgrading my PC. Am I correct to think that adding a second video card will be the best way to enhance FPS when using multiple monitors? Running the second monitor on the second card rather than both off the same graphics card? My system; core 2 quad 9550 running at 3.2ghz nvidia GTX 460 4 gigs ram Thanks crank
Depth Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Welcome :) 460 is pretty decent, the bottleneck here is the CPU. I say go for a motherboard/CPU upgrade. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mjolner Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Check out the multi-monitor sub-forum. You will find lots of similar questions discussed and get lots of ideas. Generally speaking multi monitor setups benefit from GPUs that are geared to handle the extra load.
spikenet Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 you could try SofTH and see if it helps. You can run the game fullscreen with helios that way. However, I think if you want that sort of configuration you will need to upgrade the CPU.
Bodo Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 What 460 is it? 768MB or 1GB? I'd recommend an upgrade to the GPU, or buy another maybe to use two monitors? Not sure how that works but if FPS only dropped after setting up second monitor, surely that\s GPU related, no?\ Corsair 550D / Be Quiet 650W Pro 10 / ASUS P8Z77-V Pro / Intel i5 3570K / 16GB Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz / EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX2 4GB / 128GB Samsung 830 / RME HDSPe Multiface 2 / 1TB Samsung F3 / Prolimatech Megalames Rev.
