Input/Output Hardware Setup

Hi All! I am new to the DCS series and wanted to get some feedback/help in setting up some of my hardware. I'll list my PC specs and then list the hardware I need help setting up.

 

PC- Intel i7-950 3.06mhz, Asus Sabertooth x58 mobo, 12gb Corsair Dominator 1600 memory, EVGA 560Ti 448 cores video card, Gigabyte 560Ti SOC 950 video card,(Running these cards in SLI and looking to sell the Gigabyte card for $180), Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium sound card, CoolerMaster HAFX case, Corsair H-70 cpu cooler, Corsair 850TX power supply, Acer GD235HZ 120hz monitor(1920x1080).

 

Hardware I need Help in setting up- Samsung Syncmaster 226BW(1680x1050) and I just ordered the Saitek X52 pro Stick and the Thrustmaster Cougar MFD pack.

 

What I would like to accomplish is to use the Acer for my main(outside view) and the Samsung for the front panel and have the Thrustmaster MFDs attached(velcro) to the bezel of the of the monitor on the top left and right of the screen. I want to have the MFD screens display in the very top left and right of the Samsung. Also I want to have as much of the front panel displayed on the Samsung.

 

I have read some threads about editing the .lua files and wanted to know if there were any issues or problems with running two different monitors with different resolutions(1920x1080 for the outside view and 1680x1050 for the front panel)? Also anyone have a good profile file for the Saitek x52 pro?

To get the instruments on the small screen you want helios from http://www.scsimulations.com

 

that will interface with a10 and do all of that, try searching youtube for dcs helios to get an idea.

 

You also want to read this thread to export the mfd's on to the second screen.

WOW!! You guys are fast on this forum! I really appreciate it. I have messed around with Helios a little. It does see both monitors but it seems to only edit the larger/main monitor(I think). I'll just have to play around with it a little more. Also I forgot to mention I'm also modding an old Saitek Eclipse keyboard for some general aviation controls(Flight Sim X and Flight). I'll be using HIDMacros for configuring that keyboard. I want to replace the blue SMD LEDs with some white ones. And I've sanded the tops of each key and using either colored vellum or transparency film to make colored buttons ie. red=engine, green=general aviation, orange=radio/nav/comms, yellow=lights, blue=special operations(auto-pilot):)

Also I have an extra Madcatz usb controller that I would like to mod into an UFC. Has anyone done this?

Full UFC needs 29 inputs, does this have enough?

i used GPWiz board, thats8$ shipped. board provides 32 inputs + 8 for digital axis (i handle those via autohotkey script).

Metal- I know how much some people like to skip over things or just read certain things and not the whole post. That's why I try to be as direct and simple as possible when I write something. :)

 

Agrasyuk- I saw that build and I liked it a lot. That post is what inspired me(Thank you). I figured I'd try to hack up something lying around the house I don't use anymore. But for 8$ shipped that's awesome. I may have to give that build a try.

 

Side note- All you guys are really awesome. Creative, nice and fast on the responses. I love it and thanks so much for all the input. I should be getting my stuff tomorrow so I may post some more questions here pertaining to the Helios setup.

No, but it could be done easily enough by modifying the images used and applying the desired coloration. The create a duplicate profile using the new image set. You would then just run the profile appropriate to the mission time.

So I made(modified Loz SM v2.1 profile) a Helios profile to fit my Samsung 226BW(1680x1050) monitor. Hope some people can use this. I just need to get the EW, Radar, UHF and clock to show up on this monitor.
