You were there. I was there. Back in the days when we were all futzing with IRQ ports on DOS then windows and trying to figure out how to get a simple modem connection to stay connected for our favorite pasttime.

On AOL there were 5 of us that traded spots for top gun every week on a ladder of a couple hundred. We became friends Compuserve had WAY more!

We all had $300+ phones bills trying to get up to the top and to STAY at the top!

ED (SKATER) LYNCH -- My bro!

We all had ThrustMaster products then too. :joystick:

That was then. This is now.

Wow have things changed! Thank God we have the internet now.

Graphics... YUM!

Some of those friends have since died... (RIP BLACKMAGIC)

One thing that hasn't changed??? .......I've spent the last 3 days getting my stick just right. :megalol:

Hey guys -- My name is Paul and I'm a flight sim addict. Nice to meet ya.

I'm darn glad to see the flame for the true flight sim is still alive and kicking!

Looks to me like DCS got this one spot on..

Hey and welcome, Paul!

Gosh, some of those hassles we used to have ...

Back then, living at home still, my poor folks could never be reached on the phone because I was hogging the line.

Being single and without children did give me a heck lot more time though :)

I wish you a great time in this supurb sim!

:D I think you are the first person to claim Skater, most people will not claim to know him, or like me, try to forget it...:smartass:

(here comes the facebook hate mail)

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

I haven't talked to him in 15 years or so -- I take it he's still a goober then?

Well when you see him, tell the ol' bubble butt I said hi.

I'm sure he's got twenty kids and 3 ex wives by now.

I got a Trojan Redirect Scipt in that first link. Double check it. I think someone got hold of your url link.

Acidman,

I too am a former Compuserve Falcon 3.0 H2H competitor. Used to love the dogfighting competition, and was great that there were plenty of other's that were into the same thing. Yes, I too had dual $300/month phone bills, one for voice, one for the modem data line. I sometimes miss the friends I knew then, but I don't miss the bills. :)

When Falcon 4.0 first came out, I got to participate with the iBeta team, and also flew in some of the online competitions back then. The entire time I used Thrustmaster products, FLCS, TQS and RCS.

I stopped flying for quite a few years after the sim community kind of died down, and the COD games got popular. I played those games as well.

When I saw the Thrustmaster A-10 Warthog sticks in Fry's before Christmas, I became excited all over again, and checked the net for any latest sims that would be worth starting over again before I made a purchase.

After discovering DCS A-10C and convincing a couple friends to jump into learning the sim as well, I made the plunge. After getting the Warthog sticks, Saitek Pro Rudders, a new Dell Alienware machine, three monitors running via Eyefinity, touchscreen running Helios, and a TrackIR, I'm back in business, and making up for lost time.

I love the A-10C sim, and learning everything about it. I'm having a great time. Soon, I hope to be flying multiplayer and holding my own. Looking forward to it.

I still wonder what my former flying buddies are up to nowadays. If any of them see this, they should give a hello.

-John (formerly 'AVENGER')
