HugePanic Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Hello everybody, i just wan´t to show you my DIY weapon/combat controller i have "build". It´s the first prototype, but it´s working quite good. I have used a cheap/clone Xbox-360 gamepad and modified it slightly to be able to install is on a seperate baseplate. The relocated stick controlls the Shkval direction. a press locks the target. The 4-directions pad controlls the TV-frame + the shkval zoom. the original(left) stick is not in use today, the trigger analog buttons have been removed, but can added if needed later. All other buttons are maped to the "usal" things you need for combat. All the flight functions i can do with the sidewinder-stick alone. For weapons/combat i use the additional board. Most of the buttons can be pressed during using of the shkval-stick. I play with the idea to add a keypoard-number-pad to it, to have more buttons. What i like: just 18€/€ What i don´t like: it still looks like crap
PeterP Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Nice! Looks very similar to my first game-pad hack if done some years ago.
flanker0ne Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Nice! How do you feel with the XB360 Analogic for moving Shkval Cursor? SCOPRI DI PIU': https://www.amvi.it/joinus.php DISCORD COMBINEDOPS The Battle Planning Tool
HugePanic Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 the shkval control was always a problem since is started using FaceTrackNoIR. Since the shkval is controlled over the HMS, it is really difficult to move the shkval to the correct position. I can control the shkval with the 8way/hat switch on my flightstick. this is pretty slow, but very accurate. The xbox-stick jumps into that gap. I rough position the shkval with the HMS. Depending on the distance to the target i use either the hat or the xbox-switch to finally set the position. If i have a second target to fight, i can without using the hms zoom the shkval out, adjust the tv-screen reposition the shkval within less than one second. For the final touches, i use the hat-switch again. I tried a lot with the the expo/curve function on the x-box-stick axis. This helps a lot, but it is still not as precise as the hat switch.. :( i also added some "dead-zone" on the stick, to allow press the button without moving the shkval again.. anyhow, it works good now...
