Darren Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Hi guys i need help on sadl i never get the red triangle on tad from jtac why is this.the manual says your sadl net settings must be correct but i cant find where these settings are located or what should there values be ,do they change depending on each mission, yes i am a noob and would really appreciate some help.
Sarge55 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Hi Darren, You do not always get the red triangle, sometimes it will only be the mark (smoke) or a laser, etc... You should get the triangle if after the JTAC says "readback correct", "Standby data" or something very similar. Then, you should have a flashing message and on your TAD which you can accept the mission by pushing "WILCO" (or cancel by pushing CNC) at which point the triangle will appear. Sometimes you have to zoom out your TAD quite a bit to see the triangle. Hope that helps and welcome to the forum. RodBorza Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Sometimes the mission designer makes the mission so that you won't be able to get the datalink from the JTAC. See the video below: From 4:30 on, it shows how to input data manually, given over the radio by a command and control aircraft (CAOC). Then skip to the next sequence. (I take too long to engage the target). Go to 12:25, to see how a sequence happens when you get the data from the JTAC. The sequence continues on the next video. And... This is an amazing sim! Darren Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Thanks a lot guys i will give that a try the jtac says data sent so i will have to look out for the wilko messege i have only been playing for a few days ill get there in the end at the moment im struggling finding the target i enter the utm coardinents slew my tgt pod to the waypoint jtac gave me but seem to struggle to find the the targets but its early days yet but thanks for the help much appreciated
MadTommy Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Recently i have been getting.."standby data" and never received it. Not sure why. JTAC does not use that phrase unless he intends to send data to your tad. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. I'm not sure what you mean, but I think there is no need to "WILCO" in order to see the triangle. I normally get rid of the message (TMS Left Short) and the triangle is there. I then "zoom in" using EXP-modes, hook the triangle and make it SPI. Then WILCO.
MadTommy Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I think there is no need to "WILCO" in order to see the triangle. No you don't.. once the data has been sent (received the red triangle) you then get the option to WILCO it. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. I then "zoom in" using EXP-modes, hook the triangle and make it SPI. Then WILCO. EVEN BETTER, if you have'nt thumbed Coord's into CDU as new WP, is to 'MARK' it, after hooking. (TMS RIGHT SHORT) Then u never loose it. OR, (after SPI'ing it.) hit OSB 17 on TAD and add it as a mission WP . RodBorza Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Recently i have been getting.."standby data" and never received it. Not sure why. JTAC does not use that phrase unless he intends to send data to your tad. It works from mission to mission. Some missions have it, some others not. JTAC says "stand by data" because it is a game feature. He will say that, regardlesss if he has some data to give you or not. That's determined by the mission designer. If you take a look at the Mission Editor, you will see that JTAC will have the option to send or not send the data (datalink box checked/unchecked). It is a good way to learn how to manually input data from JTAC or other sources. I started learning that because I was too used to receiving everything nice and easy fom the JTAC and didn't know how to end my mission if I didn't. This is an amazing sim! What helps me is to look with the TGP pods in its IR modes. Almost never I use CCD mode. Also, zooming out helps more than zooming in, because it allows you to have a better picture of the overall area. A little trick I do is to zoom in all the way, and then change from Wide Field of view to Narrow Field of view and vice-versa. It allows me to see JTAC smoke markers (if that's the case) and/or see targets not exactly at the coordinates given by the JTAC. This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog
