Speed Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 EErrmmm... somehow I don't think I'd be comfortable with that thing flinging me around, while I had my head in some kind of virtual reality visor, knowing with just one tiny malfunction, you turn into a long red smear on the floor. No thanks. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. No thanks. Well I guess it's safer than being aboard an airplane where one tiny malfunction decides whether you land safely or splat on the ground... Or burn alive :smoke:

Speed Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) Well I guess it's safer than being aboard an airplane where one tiny malfunction decides whether you land safely or splat on the ground... Or burn alive :smoke: It doesn't matter what the facts are, logic is not the master of emotion. Cognitive evolution outstripped emotional evolution. I think many folks would NOT feel safe using this thing, especially since you're not even watching it and have no idea if it is malfunctioning and getting ready to rip your head off. You're just up there with effectively a blind fold on. Picture it this way. Imagine setting up a lawn chair right beside a train track. You know that the train will miss you by a foot or two, and, barring some weird accident, you are safe. Now you put on a blind fold and wait. Would you feel comfortable and relaxed as the train blew past your head, not knowing for sure that you were truly not about to die a very gruesome death? Yes, I understand that for many, that would add to the thrill. Not for me. Edited March 20, 2012 by Speed Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. XarBat Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I can't imagine that it would be too difficult to make one with an enclosure.
leafer Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Forget enclosure, fix the bug that won't let you fly loops first! Jeez, come on, ED! ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
