EtherealN Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 The Steam version doesn't have that StarForce-ish DRM, does it? Steam version has the same DRM as the version on the ED site. (StarForce Proactive AAA.) Valve does not have a 64-bit-compliant version of it's DRM. It's nothing to worry about though, the solution used is driverless and has literally less rights on your computer than your MSN client. The only thing it has in common with the "old" starforce that people hated so much is the brand name. Aside from that it's a whole new solution. Eight Ball Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) DCS: A-10C Warthog - $27.99 DCS: Black Shark 2 - $27.99 DCS: Black Shark 2 Upgrade - $13.99 DCS: Black Shark - $9.99 Sorry if this was already answered in another thread but there's something I don't understand : how come BS2 ($28 ) is more expensive than BS1 + BS2 upgrade ($24) ? MemphisBelle Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Sorry if this was already answered in another thread but there's something I don't understand : how come BS2 ($28 ) is more expensive than BS1 + BS2 upgrade ($24) ? Because BS2 as full Product IS a full procuct, whereas the upgrade is the "cheap" version for those who already own BS1. BS1 price already dropped because it´s 4 years old now. So due to the spring selling both Products together are less expensive than the price reduced Full Version. Edited March 28, 2012 by MemphisBelle BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
Aries Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Can someone explain the maths on DCS Warthog's on ED shop cost of 28$ being 33€ on Steam? Please, enlighten me... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ...the few, the proud, the remaining...
EtherealN Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Because ED sells only on a dollar account. Steam uses separate markets with separate currencies, and within europe also include euro-VAT. There are other considerations as well such as the purchasing power of the currency compared to salaries and so on. (Which doesn't help you in Croatia unfortunately, but for a lot of the old "western" europe the 33 euro price is actually roughly similar in purchasing power as the 28 dollars are in the USA, after deducting VAT. Welcome to the wonderful world of exchange rates and money markets. :) ) The objection you can have is that your country has been "lumped in" with other countries that have completely different financial realities as far as currencies, exchange rates and purchasing power goes, but that's something you'd have to bring up with Valve. ...or simply purchase directly through ED instead, if that is cheaper for you. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
