Hi All,

I have looked around at many different threads and just throwing this question in to see if anyone can help- All my missions are done through mission Editor ..

Is there a way to locate ground targets WITHOUT JTAC (using Radio) ? I have tried using Bullseye co-ordinates (AWACS and Other) but cant radio request them when I'm ready otherwise they all come within the first few seconds -

When you ask your wingman to engage ground targets you can see a square marker in the map tad but is there a way to radio request that info or to ask for target locations .... (i simply lock onto his target than tell him to rejoin- lol cheeky but only way i can do it)

I know this is a shoot in the dark but any help would be great -- thanks :)

Hi Euan,

I have been a way from the sim for about 7 months so I am quite rusty but I believe those squares can be set as SPI. Forgotten the exact control but it's something like TMS right long, or TMS up long or...something!

You can roughly work out there enemy targets are using the RWS if they're firing lasers at you... Ultimately though it comes to what people describe as the mk1 eyeball - set up at anchor point or somewhere safe, wait and watch..

Additionally, you can apply markpoints directly on the TAD. Just drop the markpoint where the datalink info from the wingman comes in, make that markpoint SPI, and then you have your fix.

Well how does the wingman find them?

He cheats - significantly!

Hi All,

OMG! same here. Nevertheless, I don't think its possible to locate ground targets without JTAC, unless you're flying under 3000, and slow enough to scan visually for them black spots, and then come face to face with the heat from the screen to discern if the black dot has a halo (cooked) or still alive, without getting shot by their co-axial, or being locked by a MANPAD. If you played rainbow six 1, there was this cheat for bobbing heads.. sometimes, I wish there was that cheat for bobbing tanks..

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

It's entirely possible. Just make sure you have a TGP on board.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Even without a TGP is very much possible, in fact in some cases its easier to use the mk1 eyeball than the TGP.

You just need to pay attention to the briefing so you know where to look and have good enough SA to remain aware of where you are in relation to the enemy.

The most important thing is to get your head out of the pit, and remember spotting things from the air IS difficult and takes practice. It does become much easier in MP when you have more pairs of eyes and can divide search responsibilities.

Depends what you're looking for, a massive battle is obviously easy enough with the eye even in sim but if you're looking for one truck against many then a TGP is easier.
