nick10 Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Absolutely loving the beta. possibly best sim i've played and it's still only a beta. But would love to see an AI opponent in the final release. And any hints as to anyone could be developing a proper theatre for this? I would suggest Korea would be easiest.

TimmyD Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I am really hating the AI, he flies like he has a jet engine. He pulls up and goes vertical when I struggle to maintain speeds above 175. He really needs sorting out because even though I have edited the 1v1 mission so that we start further apart but he still manages to wipe me out. I have put his fuel weight up etc and limited the height at which we start but.....!!! flightace37 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 The AI is fine as it is in my book (except their lack of ammo weight, of course). Air combat is an art, and the P-51 requires a good understanding of energy management to fly effectively. I have no problems with making easier AI available, as long as we leave the present difficulty intact for the more experienced pilots. It's nice to finally have something that doesn't sit there and flop around aimlessly all night. That being said, they could even use improvement when ED has the time. Pursuit curves, wing unloading, etc. Make sure you mess with starting speeds, TimmyD. Relative energy at the merge is a big deal, and easily determines the outcome of the entire fight. 1 - WH_Mouse
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 14, 2012 ED Team Posted May 14, 2012 AI are a little annoying, pulling crazy "G's" and they like to loop, loop, loop, loop, loop well you get the picture lol Its the damage model that needs tweaking a little you can riddle the AI P-51 with bullets and they fly on. But this is a BETA and I am sure it will all get tweaked :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? I have to trim the plane and set the range and wingspan and get up to speed. I go for the deck. He will misjudge his escape curve and if you can get it just right he will plow into the ground, hill or building. I have not been able to get above him or behind him. Usually one burst from him is devastating taking a lot of internals down: Right Shift + ' Sucks when the reticule goes down, then guesstimate. The Hinds helicopter A.I. are also vicious. I like the A.I. setup just fine. The harder it is, I have to get better, eventually. Maybe not. Edited May 14, 2012 by ErichVon
