I've been trying for a couple of days now to receive a reply when

I put a frequency in the VHF radio under the Throttles. I just can't

get a reply when calling approach for any Airfield I try. Can I get

some help with this ??????????????

Thanks

Can you show us a screen shor of the left pedestra and esepcially the three radios, after you set them to contact an airport?

This would make troubleshooting much easier for us!

EDIT: Or even better would be a track.

Thanks

John

Errr... the Airfields ATC should respond even without "friendly" units in the map ?

Dunno about the free fly mission.. :(

Double check that you're using the correct "radio" to contact the ATC, tuning the correct freq is not enough, you have to push the correct radio "talk" key.

Just double checked, I was able to communicate with ATCs without issue in the free flight mission. Allied presence only effects the ability to re-arm. So he must be doing something wrong with the radios. Once you activate the radio, make sure it displays "VHF AM" in the radio menu, otherwise he is probably using the wrong radio.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

After setting up the VHF AM radio and trying to call Batumi" ATC by

pressing the "\" key then F5 for (Batumi) then F1 for (inbound), I just

see (1.MAIN) not (1. Main (VHF AM). In you post you say you won't see

(1. Main VHF AM) unless the radio is Activated. What do I have to do

after Setting the correct Frequency and positioning the knobs to Manual/TR

to ACTIVATE the radio ?????

Ahhhh. Now it becomes clear.

You're pressing the wrong key, \ is only used with easy radios. Realistic radios use the HOTAS Mic switches.

I don't know the default key assignments, but if you look in the controls menu you'll see them.

MIC SWITCH FWD - VHF/AM

MIC SWITCH DOWN - UHF/AM

MIC SWITCH AFT - VHF/FM

setting up my AM Radio I'm NOT ACTIVATING IT.How do you activate the radio

so you see (1. MAIN (VHF AM) in the Radio Menu ????????

No you need the correct mic switch as well.

LAlt+ Num - for UHF = Flights and F10 element menu Middle radio with 251.00

LAlt+ Num + for VHF AM = Ground, ATC , Tanker, AWACS Foremost radio (your question)

LShift + Num - for VHF FM = JTAC (Rearmost radio with 30,000 or 40,000)

Fish produced a good video, and warriorX produced a well written and practical tutorial. They should square away any problems..

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

UHF isn't needed for F10 menu. FM goes from 30.000 MHZ to 90.000MHZ.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
