While on the subject,my speed brake forward (button 7) seems to be hung,so can open speed brakes but not close them. HELP :(

Does the button work anywhere, Windows control panel, Target Device Analyzer?

You do know that the Mustang doesn't have speed brakes, right?;)

Red even though switch is centered? Firmware up to date?

I would contact Thrustmaster for a replacement - their Customer Support is outstanding.

I have studied 'broken' and that describes it.;)

Some folks have gotten TM to send them the part and replaced it themselves (other throttle handle switches I believe). That would be much faster if you are up to doing the work.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled without all your funny peripherals, ie rumble-pads, digital thingiemabobas, racing wheels and smurfs?

If not, give that a go - I seem to recall non-flight SIM equipment being plugged in has a tendency to spanner up the works. Also ensure that your Warthog drivers are properly installed and your firmware is up to date.

I will give your suggestion a try ... also I don't have the Warthog..I have the Cougar...

Having smurfs and thingiemabobas plugged into the same hub can cause a problems as well, IIRC!

Joke aside, it is another thing to try. DCS will happily try to use anything that looks like a controller and it will assign functions to buttons and axis that do not even exist.

Everything plug in seperate usb ports

I just sent them an e-mail and also found out they have a telephone number one can call here in Switzerland. I think with instructions,I can replace one myself.

Thank you all for your replies :)

Okay I un-installed and then re-installed without the Joystick/Rudder Pedals/Gamepad connected then did a reboot then added the Joystick/RudderPedals/Gamepad..and the result is the same..no Joystick Control ... the rudder controls work fine..but no joy...:joystick::surrender::ranting:

Unplug the peripherals and thereafter plug them in one at a time and see if they work before plugging another one in, starting with the Cougar.

Does the Cougar register as 'Device Ready' in the HOTAS Cougar Control Panel?

Not Foxy - the Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar Control Panel where your Cougar is calibrated. Ensure that the Cougar is recognised there, ie 'Device Ready'.

Hey;

I followed " Sierra99 " instructions all over again got to do firmware update which I didn't before..

Sierra99 Instructions :

This guide works for installing the Cougar on a Windows 7 machine:

1- Begin with Hotas unplugged

2- Install either

2007_HCO_VISTA_32_RC2.exe (Windows Vista 32bit)

or

2007_HCO_VISTA_64_RC1.exe (Windows Vista 64 bit)

Depending on what version of Windows 7 you are running

3- Plug the hotas when prompted.

You will get error messages regarding DATA IN and DATA OUT driver problems... Disregard them and move to next step.

5- Click START -> CONTROL PANEL -> VIEW DEVICES AND PRINTERS

6- Right click on THRUSTMASTER HOTAS COUGAR then select PROPERTIES

7- Go to HARDWARE and select DATA IN then click PROPERTIES

8- Go to DRIVER IN and click UPDATE DRIVER button

- Select BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE

- Browse to to "C:\Program Files (x86)\HOTAS"

- Click NEXT

11- Windows will load appropriate DATA IN drivers

12- Repeat steps for DRIVER OUT.

Load Foxy as normal and commence to Killing!

Hope this helps.

I now have control in the sime action now to do some tweaking and I am good to fly again ....

WHOOOPIE....

PS: THANKS VIPER

Jolly Good :)

If you run into issues again, also remember to Flash the Cougar. To do this just hold the trigger button depressed when plugging in the Cougar as per step 3. Hold it down for about 4-5 seconds and then release and the Cougar will Flash and update the firmware.

Yes, thanks bud..I also just did a calibration on the stick..both my left/right axis are off..hard to reset them to centre..might be wear and tear on the stick after all these years...

I am a happy camper now..
