I adjusted the curve on pitch and rudder and it made a lot of difference in curing twitch, and made it fly generally better in my opinion. I still feel it's unstable in yaw axis but who cares I love flying this p51. It's a challenge. I also think this sim has the best on ground characteristics of any sim. Compared to fsx or il2 there is a real possibiltiy of ground loop if you don't watch out. It's great. You simply aren't sliding around on the runway like fsx. There is real runway traction.

Its good but best physics is ROF.You rev and the plane comes to life under torque...you move controls under power while on the ground and plane moves around...and the ground handling is top notch.Search for this video

Your right,I forgot that part:lol::joystick: Even though,ROF is excellent at what it does.

The P-51 also has at least 7 times the horsepower.;)

But then the weight difference is closer to 7 to 1 as well.

The P-51D, as currently modeled, is capable of a dramatic side slip the likes of which I've never experienced in RoF. I took off once and induced an amazing amount of right skid. The airplane continued to maintain most of the skid with neutral rudder until I decided to stop the airshow at 300 agl and corrected back to coordinated flight. There is a training video (I am terrible at videos, links, etc but its the first video when you google P-51 training films. 30 minutes long), anyway about 20 minutes into the video they make the comment that the P-51 will not maintain a slip with the controls held in the initial slip positions.

Never experiencing it in ROF is understandable as I am assuming that there is no P-51D Mustang available as flyable. Further assuming that said behaviour should not be happening in DCS, do you have a track handy of said behaviour?

Will work on that. Only near my iPad atm. I only mentioned RoF because of the will yaw rates available on those old types, especially models with no vertical stab.

My sentiments as well! This simulation of the P51-D is nothing short of spectacular. Mind you, I don't have a skerrick of real world experience ... it's all based on my interpretation of a reality I've read about or have seen on flying videos. I really hope that the Spitty and the FU4-1D (both part of the Fighter Collection stable) soon join us.

Is there a collection of air-worthy Axis aircraft anywhere in the world?

ROF is excellent at what it does.

And pretty arcadish at what it doesn't.

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

"Character"

this plane has huge doses of it in every area. exceptional feel. If anything changes that presently id be dissapointed. realism must prevail imo and thats nothing i would know about tbh.

This isn't the thread or the place to discuss another sim but I can't just let this one go by.

(And may it please the court that I have made many similar impassioned defenses of DCS over at riseofflight.com.)

Rise of Flight the most accurate simulator ever to model light aircraft. Nothing offered before--not FSX, not X-Plane and certainly not IL2--have come nearly as close in providing the player a true sense of flight. It is guilty of more than a few faults but "arcadiness" is definitely not one of them.

I agree, while the P-51D Beta is outstanding, a real challenge and joy to fly, ROF, which I have been flying for many months is immersive to the extreme. It's combination of great graphics, flight dynamics, improved user interface, modelled physics and a customer focus regarding enhancements is rare.

Definitely not arcadish. Each plane has these unique quirks that really add up to high realism IMO.And the best planes are a bitch to fight in!
