rss0900 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 (edited) Going to try to model it somewhat after the a10c except my MFD's will be in the middle of the console. Decided to try this with PVC and wooden platforms, the plan will be to bring the wood down each side of the pit (left and right) allowing me to build out more controls. Can wait to get it skinned and covered and give a go, still have to get something built to hold the joystick and throttle first. This all started after getting the Thrustmaster MFD's, what an expensive hobby! Was thinking about skinning the canopy with this stuff then wiring a blue light outside to simulate daylight with a switch in the cockput to turn it off during sim nighttime. http://www.plaskolite.com/Product/Catalog/?market=Lighting I know there are lot of rough edges right now, only about 6 hours in to this build and started running out of connectors :) Back to Home Depot ....... tomorrow Edited May 13, 2012 by rss0900
Mike Powell Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Your covering/lighting idea sounds good. It should boost immersion by blocking out the real world. "...expensive hobby!..." You have no idea:) Mike Powell www.mikesflightdeck.com www.mikesflightdeckbooks.com
Cali Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 You married or have a girlfriend? If so, when she starts laughing at you don't take is personal. Unless she is into flight sims, it will happen. Oh yes she thinks it's funny right now, but when I don't come out of the thing for hours on end she won't be laughing anymore :) You can just tell she would like to see nothing more than come home one day to find me laying on the floor entangled in PVC from where it collapsed! Already been told it's a waste of a tv.

Already been told it's a waste of a tv. Then tell her that having 100 pairs of shoes is a waste too. Or how about having fun? That is a waste too. Instead of having fun you could work more and get more money. ------=:: I FLY BLEIFREI ::=------

Ask her a simple question: Does she prefer a wasted TV and some special interiors, in which you spend some time in the house, of if you should rather go out 7 days a week and spend the money on beer and girls. Her choice ^^ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Her choice ^^ HAHA you guys must be single cause I'd be afraid to say those things! Actually she's cool about it right now, kind of interested in seeing what it will look like when done, but she won't be so cool when I put a cabin door on the back and ensure that there is no entry from the outside :)
Gremlin77 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I'll give you a hint.....to beware you of a lot of work. My wife baned me to the basement with my "little" pit. So, to avoid a lot of work, just start in a room your wife will never need. Look at the attached pics, how large a little pit can grow.... But the guys are right. It's such a lot of fun doing this!!!!! I think, women cannot understand such things, its simply a man-thing visit my build thread Gremlin's A-10  http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=86916

Already been told it's a waste of a tv. You might not be laughing either. I use to play Rogue Spear many years ago....I played a lot! She came downstairs one night opened up the cd drive and snapped the cd in half! The joke was on her........it wasn't even my cd, it was my friends and I was on the phone with him when it happened! Another thing, I didn't even need the cd to play the game. Just make sure you balance spending time with her and flying. If you can do that then everything will be fine. It took me years to learn that. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
