dburne Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 Thanks again, more great information - definitely helps me get ready for when this thing arrives! Hey question, regarding the Target software for the Warthog - can that software adjust things in say the Saitek rudder pedals, like curves, dead zones, etc? Or does that need to be done with Saitek software? Of course I guess with sims that have those adjustments included in the controller options, that would not matter huh... FreeFall Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hey question, regarding the Target software for the Warthog - can that software adjust things in say the Saitek rudder pedals, like curves, dead zones, etc? Normal procedure (my opinion) is that (with DCS A-10C) you don't install Target software at all. It just messes things up. Only if you wanna dim the green LEDs of the throttle, you might consider installing it. For Saitek, just install Saitek drivers. You can totally adjust the curves/dead zones from A-10C controller settings.
dburne Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Thanks FreeFall, But I will need the TARGET software installed to create profiles for my other sims right? I assumed I just won't " use" it for flying in DCS A10C? I am sure this will all become more clear to me when I get it set up and read up on it. FreeFall Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Actually, I only fly with DCS A-10C :D and haven't ever installed Target software. So, because I don't know Target software at all I cannot help very much. However, if you use the Forum Search I'm pretty sure you'll find lotsa info about using Target. Wrecking Crew Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 FreeFall - GMTA I turn on the RCntrl-Enter for every takeoff and if the rudder peddles show any signal I simply tap 'W' to clear it. Taxiing around a base and braking with these peddles - you may get a brake bias on one side or the other that will tend to pull your jet off the runway - makes for a dicey formation takeoff. Make it a part of your take off procedure to use RCntrl-Enter, and switch it off after t/o. I was going to make some comment about your other sims d.b, like not needing them, but I only fly A-10C after a long hiatus from flight sims. I'd jump into another DCS multi-engine US jet in a heartbeat, and buy the hardware to go with that, too. This A-10C Warthog continues to challenge my simming wants. I see even more that I will be able to use my Warthog in this sim without any need for creating a profile for it, which will be nice. WC Thanks for the info regarding brake bias and using RCntrl-Enter while taxiing, I will make that a habit. Regarding the other sims, lol you may be right but I do like some diversity - however I have a feeling I will have my hands full learning this sim alone for a while. I am very , very pleased! Now to start getting into and learning this A-10 sim, will take me some time but hopefully before too long I will be flying and enjoying the heck out of it. FreeFall Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) my new Warthog along with my new Saitek Combat pedals arrived safe and sound today, all is hooked up and working well. I am very , very pleased! Congrats! :joystick: Now when you have dual throttle, it's great fun to train the Engine Restart Procedures (Windmill Restart and APU Restart). Just shut down one engine while airborne, train flying with only one engine, and then restart the engine again (the exact procedures can be found in Flight Manual p. 590-591 (Emergency Procedures)).
