chardly38 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Im looking to up grade my GPU. I just dont know if the extra 100.00 is worth getting the 7970 to the 7950. Also is there a big difference from a 1000 core clock to 900 to. Or is the Stream Processors more important 2040 to 1792. My card now is just getting by 5770. Im also running the screens so I was told to go big with ram. Both cards having 3g. Im trying to learn more before i buy. cichlidfan Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 ... Sorry for the semiOT question but... What combination of a three monitor resolution/arrangement produces a resolution of 5292x1050? I used to own a 1680x1050 a while back but obviously that is not what you have. chardly38 Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 How many screens are you running? I see that you went with Sapphire. That card comes with alot of adapters and a little bit less than the XFX that i was looking at. PoleCat Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I am running 3 1920x1200 27.5" screens (5760x1200)on a Radeon 6970 2GB. Seems Ok so far in the DCS titles. I would imagine the 7970 would be the ticket in the 7XXX Radeon series. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/

I know i have now the lower end of the hd cards. When i built the card i didnt know enough about GPUs. I guess its better to go all the way when buying a GPU for eyenifity with DSC. Is there much difference between 925 to 1000 core clock. I have never played with triple screens and did not think about bezel compensation (actually never thought through how it would have to work). ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! McVittees Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Probably bit late but id say if you were after a HD7950 0r 7970 you'd be better off with a GTX670. Much better price/performance/tech. Price/performance cards are good depending on your needs but when you are trying to push a resolution of 5292x1050 I reckon you are out the the price/performance cards and need to go for performance. You dont get a ferrari resolution and then decide a Hyundai engine is a good price/performance for it :) 1
