Spudman Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 So I searched the forums for a thread on this and I couldn't find anything for this particular problem. So far this has only happened to me when I try to use the CBU-105. Sometimes I can drop the weapon with no problem and other times I go to drop it and it doesn't release, I just get "IAM LAUNCH ABORT". Does anyone know what's causing this and how I can correct it?

Tailgate Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) Wait until "Manual" shows up above the ordinance text in the HUD, Press and hold trigger until the CBU releases. If you press before "manual" shows up, I believe you'll get the Abort Error or no release at all. To remove the "Abort" message, click on the Ack button on the MFD, however the CBU will be permanently deactivated. Edited June 21, 2012 by Tailgate

Also you have 15 seconds to pickle the weapon before it fails and can only be cleared by landing and rearming. (You can clear the message but the weapon will not come off.) Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Okay so I did exactly what you said; I waited until it indicated manual release and I pressed the weapon release button. The moment I pressed the button "IAM LAUNCH ABORT" flashed, so I don't know what the problem is. I've been successful at releasing this weapon before, but I can't duplicate the results. I'm at a loss.
Tailgate Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) Did you keep it depressed? If so, it sounds like maybe your button is not functioning properly. Eta: The other thing is make sure that the weapons are showing Ready in your DSMS, I forget the actual verbage, but sometimes they will show an alignment error if you fly a certain course for a while, and you have to change course to get them to a ready state again. The button is fine, it was my altitude that was the problem. I don't know why but it matters; it seems that if you're to high then you will get that alert. I went back and loaded up with 6 105s and started out at 5280ft.(just a good all around number) and worked my way down to about 2000, I didn't want to get to low be cause the default HoF is 1800ft. Anyway, all 6 bombs left the rack and deployed perfectly. I don't know that the max alt. is for this weapon, apparently there is one.
Tailgate Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Hmm, interesting, I routinely drop from 12 k or higher to escape Shorad. Not sure what is going on there.

If you are still having issues then post a track for us to have a look at - there is obviously a problem somewhere. Altitude is however not it. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? luza Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 sounds like you arent holding the pickle button for long enuff, hold it depressed for longer than you think until your can hear (or see on the DSMS) that the weapon has infact been released [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Spudman Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 Okay well I got back in the sim. and climbed to 13k based on what Tailgate said just to see and the weapon released just fine. I'm scratching my head, I have no idea whats going on with this weapon, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I don't know what I'm doing if anything to cause it to malfunction. I've read all of your posts and tried all of your suggestions and I can't see difference in what I'm doing now than before.

Joe Johnson Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Happened to me once, but that was because I tried to raise my airbrakes while I was holding down the weapon release button. Maybe you pressed some other button/slide on your HOTAS while depressing the release button? Intel Core i5 750 @ 4 GHz, 8GB Ram, ATI Radeon 5800, Saitek X52 HOTAS & Pedals, TIR 5, Wondows 7 64bit

Tailgate Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I would suggest going into your J-stick software and hold the pickle button down while moving the stick around to rule out a faulty connection.
