JCamel Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Can planes do this or does it recognise the runway as obliterated? If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
BigfootMSR Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 The game is simulated in a way that yes you can take off from a runway after is has been bombed by a runway attack. I believe in real life, it may be much harder. If you hit a "pot hole" if will destroy your landing gear. In my experience, the AI will recognize the runway as being destroyed and not use it or take off. A pothole being a 20ft crater?;) If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
Bourrinopathe Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Harmless destroyed runway? Is it still possible to T-O/land on a "destroyed" runway in 1.5 beta? I was tweaking a quick scramble training mission and I used a B-1B with Mk-84 and finally a full load of penetrating GBU-31(V)3/B (switching from Runway Bombing to Pinpoint Strike task) but I've been able to land/roll safely at any speed with a Su-27. (4 GBUs used per impact point) The ATC correctly suggests an alternate airbase but the craters are harmless decals. Is it working as intended? (not that important, but I'd like to know if I'm doing it wrong) Thanks /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
Grimes Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 You should probably make a thread for this in the 1.5 forum section instead of reviving a few year old thread. However yes the runway craters are supposed to damage your landing gear if you drive over them in pretty much any aircraft. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
