It can, but only in a scripted way.

 

You'd need to have the unit drive to a trigger zone, hold and then activate units at that trigger zone.

 

What would be really cool is the ability to spawn units on a moving trigger zone. So you could get a tank crew (in theory) to bail out after enough damage. would be awesome IMHO

It could also be used to dynamically deploy infantry from various vehicles

Yeah would love to see this changed to be easier, making troop drops is harder than it needs to be right now...

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
