So I have a T-34 in the model viewer. The .edm looks not too bad, but how can I get this into DCS World as a vehicle?

 

I found Heaters guide how to add scenery, but I'm totally at loss how to get a tank into the game.

 

Does anyone have any pointers?

What I have found out so far:

 

the model root name is t-34 so:

 

1) copy t-34.edm -> Bazar/World/Shapes

2) copy t-34_p_1.edm -> Bazar/World/Shapes

3) copy Bazar/World/Shapes/t-55.lods to t-34.lods and replace T-55 with T-34

4) edit Bazar/TechnicsTable.sht insert before the last }

5) copy Scripts/Database/Vehicles/Tanks/T-55.lua to t-34.lua

6) edit t-34.lua and replace t-55 with t-34 at this occurences

GT.visual.shape = "T-34";
GT.visual.shape_dstr = "T-34_p_1";
GT.Name = "T-34";
GT.DisplayName = _("MBT T-34");

7) edit Scripts/db_countries.lua and add a line for the Russian country

cnt_unit( units.Cars.Car, "T-34");

8) open the mission editor and place a vehicle group Armor for the Russians and the T-34 should show up.

9) Installing the textures. I used gimp to convert the .tga textures to .dds. And simply added them to Bazar/World/Textures/WorldTexturesTGA3.zip

 

Animation slots for the tanks:

* slot 0 from -1 to +1 turns the main turret

* slot 1 from 0 to +1 elevates the main gun

 

Now I have to learn more about texturing. And about all the stuff I copied from the T-55 and should adapt for the T-34. Like weapons, chassis, ammo tpyes ...

This tank would be something the P-51 could get in a steep dive.

 

Armor:

Hull front 47 mm /60° (upper part)[2]

45 mm (1.8")/60° (lower part),

Hull side 40 mm[3]/41°(upper part),

Hull rear 45 mm,

Hull top 20 mm,

Hull bottom 15 mm;

Turret front 60 mm (2.4"),

Turret side 52 mm/30°,

Turret rear 30 mm,

Turret top 16 mm

T-34 tech MOD sample.

 

Unzip T-34 folder to /Mods/tech directory.

This mod not change T-55, create new Tank in game !

Nope, Ducky's file is without model and textures, but shows how these can be intergrated into DCS. As far as I understand, there are only hitpoints for vehicles and no penetration calculation based on thickness or type of armor.

I downloaded the zip file and installed how you write! But now the game does not start! Inside the archive: Folder Shapes empty( and zip file T-34 in folder Textures empty!

Who can give for download a working full version T-34?

I could be wrong, but I think this was just to be used for structure on how modders could add new vehicles?

Is just a structure sample without edm models and textures.
