JCamel Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 The difference? If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
cichlidfan Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Probably nothing but the context might make a difference. In reference to what in particular? ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
JCamel Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Su-25 controls. I notice there are separate actions for power-up and thrust-up. If the telegraph pole takes off after you, it is not a telegraph pole.
PeterP Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) power-up = switching electricity on thrust-up = feeding fuel to the engine Tip: It is advisable to exercise newly learned from time to time in the sim for a better understanding of the functions. Edited July 15, 2012 by PeterP

You sure about that? When flying it, the power-up (Num+) and power-down (Num-) seem to control engine rpm. Thrust up (PageUp) and Thrust down (PageDown) do the same, but faster. Fihnakis Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Sorry to necro an old topic but I have the same ? and the answers here aren't helping. I've used both thrust and power in-game and they appear to do exactly the same. Using base game with su25t. Am I missing something or do they do something else for different aircraft?
Flamin_Squirrel Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Depends on how technical an answer your want, but from a general go faster/slower point of view, there's no practical difference.
Fihnakis Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 So no matter the aircraft used, in-game, there is no difference?
sutekhxeper Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I have used it the same way for everything I have flown in game: Warthog, Su-25T, F-15C I imagine its exactly the same for all the others. Thrust up increases the throttle in increments based on how many times you push it. Power up is used to adjust the throttle by holding it down, and will gradually go up/down. Power up/down is nice when every second doesn't count and you get to set the exact amount of throttle you want based on how long you hold it. "THRUST UP" is nice in a tight spot, 68% throttle in F-15C? Hit that button 4 or 5x rapidly and in less then a second you just set your throttle to 115%. I am unable to check in-game...but the preset thrust up/down for the F-15C is like 75%?, 83%, 99%, 105%? and 115%
Fihnakis Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Thank you sutekhxeper, exactly the explanation I was looking for. So both are kind irrelevant when using a throttle stick (x52) as you set your speed is based on position of handle.

My joystick is located so far to the right it really helps me since I use keyboard numbers 1-6 for engine throttle. :joystick:
