In early versions I could only fly inverted for 10 s or so, with the explanation that the special fuel tanks could only hold that amount fuel.

Now, it's not like that anymore. What's changed?

Haha, good stuff. If it's any help, I'm pretty sure it's been like this since 1.1.0.9 or earlier.

Just last week I was flying inverted to do BDA for a wingman right over the target and starved my engines, so it still happens.

Oh, ok. I tried it for something like 30 s, and assumed it didn't happen at all.

So is it 10 s at max thrust IRL?

am i missing something, im feeling left out :(

Let me help you:

1. Do your engines shutdown if you fly inverted on full throttle for 20 seconds?

2. Can you fly inverted from Batumi to Senaki airport?

If

of course remembering that as far as fuel starvation goes there is a distinction between inverted and flying with a negative g-load. I can fly inverted for at least 30 seconds without starving the engines if i really want to.

I managed to starve both engines yesterday, so it's obviously quite inconsistent.

I tried last night I can fly inverted for how long I want nothing happens

Are you sure you are not flying in "game mode." Check all of your setting to be sure all are set to realistic and come back and tell us how it works out for you.

Serendipity my friends...

I was coming back from a somewhat successful mission and made a really poor landing attempt, bouncing my hog like a ****in' racquetball off the runway. The landing gear on the nose was okay, but my rear wheels were locked in a halfway position.

Thinking I was smart, I inverted my hog and tried jiggling the landing gear handle. I figure if they won't go down, maybe I can get them to retract and everything would reset and be cool...

"MAN, I'M SO SMART!" I thought as my HUD turned off and everything got real quiet and my warning light panel lit up all over the place. I was totally at a loss as to what happened. Seeing this thread, I'm guessing I starved the engines and therefore lost power?

In a situation like that, you'd have to use the APU to restart the engines I assume? I was far too low to attempt a windmill start, not that I even know how to do that really.

...man I love this 'game'. I had a good chuckle at the whole situation.

Heh, yeah. I "found out" about this little thing when I was trolling one of the other testers way way back, taunting him with some inverted flying right over his canopy as he was heading in to land.

...I've never worked my engine controls so fast as when everything shut down and I only had a couple hundred feet of air under me... :D

I think that sooner or later you will starve your engines when you do this, but it takes much longer than 10 s. I just flew inverted at 0 AoA, 4000 ft MSL and it took me a minute to starve the engines.
