flyinghigh Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Throttle works fine when starting mission in the air or engines already running, but starting mission cold throttles not moving.Keyboard commands do the same. Tried a auto start ,engines failed to ignite & no movement in throttles. Any ideas Using HOTAS Cougar. oceanoftimeGER Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) I had the exact same problem as you. The reason was that I previously had an old copy of DCS: Warthog installed (pre-World). I fixed it by going into C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games and deleting the "DCS Warthog" folder (make sure you don't delete the folder simply called DCS, that is the folder for world), restarting my game and rebinding the keys. I hope this works for you as well flyinghigh! Edited August 5, 2012 by oceanoftimeGER

DCSWorld V1.2 , Warthog 1.2 Flyinghigh :) There's a key combo that moves the throttle from the OFF (when starting C&D) to the IDLE position. From that point on, the throttles work. I'm at work, though, and can't check that key combo for you. HammerUK9 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Right Alt+Home for left engine, Right Ctrl+Home for right engine. And then +End to shut them down again :)
Corrigan Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 You seem to need to move the throttles past the stop an extra time when waking them up. I.e., if the Warthog throttles are past the stop and the in-game engines are off, you need to move them back over the stop and then forward again to start the engines. Not sure why, but it's hardly a big hassle. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
flyinghigh Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Thanks for the replies. Deleted saved flights, didn't work. Key combo:- Right Alt+Home for left engine, Right Ctrl+Home for right engine. worked only when engines already started not from Cold start and this is why the auto start does not work. What happens with your sim? Try this Mission :- Free Flight-Balck Sea-Ramp Start Right Alt+Home should move the throttle from off to idle.Does it? If not try auto start RWIN Home & see if throttle move to idle. Thanks Flyinghigh :) Computer: intel i7 2600 cpu @3.4ghz , 64bit , 8gb Ram, Windows Windows 10, Twin AMD graphics Cards.

I can both set the throttles from OFF to IDLE and from IDLE to OFF with the RCtlr-Home/End, etc keys. BigfootMSR Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Try making sure that "synchronize controls on startup" is not checked in your options. Its a long shot, but its the only suggestion I have at the moment. flyinghigh Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 I'll try "synchronize controls on startup" is not checked , tonight. failing that I'll try a reinstall. Thanks again :) Computer: intel i7 2600 cpu @3.4ghz , 64bit , 8gb Ram, Windows Windows 10, Twin AMD graphics Cards.
flyinghigh Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 Well you guys fixed it! Untick Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start. Works perfect. I wonder if this is a fault as it is disablling the keyboard not synchronizing.I think that is for another day. Thanks to all. Flyinghigh  Well, if you are not flying with 'HOTAS' set up, then you would obviously want it to be 'unchecked'. Anyway, glad you got it sorted. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :pilotfly:
BigfootMSR Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I have posted a bug report on this issue in another thread because I believe the entire controls sync system is currently bugged. I wont go into it here though. I'm glad my suggestion worked for you though :) DCS: A10C Warthog JTAC coordinate entry training mission http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/99424/ DCS: Blackshark 2 interactive training missions http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612
DunMac Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I had that problem as well, I ended up reassigning the left and right start key combination. I just searched for a combination that wasn't being used, which by the way took a bit of searching, and found the LALT+V for the left engine and RALT+V for the right engine to start and 5 and 6 for shut down. It worked for me. I made sure there wasn't a conflict. I found out that if you use a combination of keys that are already assigned the original will be canceled out.
DunMac Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) I've recently read these posts on the engine start keys and I reset the default and tried it again knowing that the sync. was unticked and it's still the same result for me, it doesn't work. Are there any other suggestions that I might be able to try to get it right. I'd rather have it right rather that reassigning the key strokes. Thanks. Another thing is that the end, home, delete keys that are supposed to run the DMS, well they only partially work. I reassigned the end key to 5 just for the hell of it and it worked. That's the zoom feature on the TAD page, I didn't try the TGP page but I bet it would work. Can any body give me a clue as to why those keys (end, home, delete) don't work right? I checked the keyboard drivers and they're up to date and working properly according to Windows. This is really starting to frustrate me, not to mention the fact that I really don't know how to map my joystick. TM Hotas X. Signed....Flying Blind.
