Multiplayer Crashing on Sign-in

TIR5, with 5.1.300Build 9945.

I did not end the TIR5 application. I came out of a multiplayer session in DCS World to desktop in a normal way. Then I fired up DCS World multiplayer again and after logging in it crashed. TrackIr continued to function properly. At the same time someone else, grom the UK, was trying to get into multplayer too, but he could not get to the masterserverlist either.

Then after 1,5 hours I was able to log in again and get to the masterserverlist. I did not end any application in the mean time, just fired up my Firefox-browser.

B

I had this problem yesterday too (funnily enough trying to access the 74th's server ), around 2pm GMT I gave up in the end.

I too had TrIR5 running, and had been running DCS:W MP fine the previous day.

Just run TIR all nite long, but when you're done for the day - shut it down and check the process-list.

It may appear there - and cause issues (in games) tomorrow when you fire up TIR again.

Hey P,

thanks for looking into this.

I shut my pc down when I go to bed, so it can't be a multiple processes thing, but I'll be sure to check the taskmanager next time I have this problem.

CTD issue in MP Masterbowser, no TIR

Hi I am having the same CTD issue.

No TIR but I do have Nvidia.

I accedently tabbed out and crashed, after rebooting, I now continue to CTD. I can not post an error log as my DCS World doent have a log folder (unless im looking in the wrong place).

Alt-Tab + Nvidia is a known issue and not related to this investigation.

It's proved to be hard to fix, no words on when yet.

Split out and Moved to a separate thread.

I want to be sure this can be related to the investigation - otherwise I'll move it to a separate thread.

"this crash" you say. - How come arent you getting the crashes related to TIR?

- Did you Alt Tab? Do you own Nvidia?

Could you please post your crash logs / event logs please?

We need to have something to go on.

Dxdiag too please.

And can you please make a list with the excact steps to reproduce?

1. ....

2. ...

EDIT: Panzer changed the title to reflect the investigation

Panzer I've been seeing the same issue as the people above, and I'm running ATI 5870.

Got TIR 5, will investigate the process thing further, but I don't think it's related.

It happens right when master list is retrieved, DCS WORLD Stops working and forces me to shut it down.

Sometimes it works fine, other times I can try to log on 20 times in a row with no luck...

I don't own TIR.

I do own Nvidia.

I do not alt tab when I get the crash from the metaserver list update, and in the latest test I was running fullscreen mode.

It is worth noting that when I get this particular crash, I get two "DCS has stopped responding" windows.

Checking event log the first one is a MSVCR100.dll fault, and the second one seconds later is always a DXRenderer.dll

I've made 2 threads for this now - I just need to get some hard data on it.

And we need to make at least 1 method to produce the problem, in a consistent manner.

Not sure if it helps or not, but for me it seems to crash right between the point of logging in and when it pulls up the server list. Its done it in the past but usally works again within 15 minutes. This is the longest its been down for me... going on 30 minutes. Here's my hardware if it helps...

Asus pt-6

500gb samsung

Hey panzer, similar crash experienced on my end a few days ago, but it was only the once.

One thing to add, it seemed to coincide with a BIOS setting i altered at the time 'HPET 64bit' as soon as i was using that setting the crash happened, once i deactivated it the crash stopped.

I still need that DxDiag (attach it as textfile please, see previous "troubleshooter post") so I can get my hands on that 6 pack. ;)

Do you have the Eventviewer Error as as well?

See here for tips: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1479197&postcount=18

Cheers.

Thanks.

Without TrackIR, and Nvidia so far.

For newcomers.

EventViewer Applications logs can be the one to confirm if it's in the same modules.

So if you please post those errors as well, it may help us to understand if the cases are related or not.

... please check your Eventviewer, Applications, Application stopped working.

did a clean world install, and updated track IR5.

No crashes yet, will keep you posted...

Edit: Reinstall also fixed some other problems I was having: Extreme long freeze time from pressing FLY in multiplayer to cockpit. And application refusing to alt tab (Full screen windowed) :)

Suddenly started happening to me last night too. Specs are in signature.

Ever thought it might be a server name with invalid characters or exceeding the buffer length?

The first DLL that crashes (MSVCR100.dll) is C++ runtime, so it's caused an exception which has then cascaded to any other DLLs which have been loaded.

Anyway to log the stack trace?

Happened again tonight. We had a 3 hour mission up on our dedicated server. Then, around 2130z I ended the mission on the empty server, by pressing 'Disconnect', selected another mission and launched the server again. It crashed (DCS has stopped working), did not even generate a crash report.

Launched it on the server again, but crashed everytime after logging on, while it was preparing to display the masterserverlist.

At the same time, none of the clients (at least 4 different people) who tried to get in, were able to retrieve the masterserverlist. And all of sudden, after about 15 to 20 minutes, the masterserverlist was there again.

First crash on my client machine : MSVCR100.dll

Second crash : NPClient64.dll

Third crash : MSVCR100.dll
