Pilotasso Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Surely there isn't a weapons bay on the model but it looks like there is enough space between the intakes to accommodate one. They already have recessed AMRAAM's in there... .
Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I think the general "look" of performance military aircraft will converge as computer modeling becomes the norm due to the simple fact that aerodynamics is what it is.
Pilotasso Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Its more about copying the shape rather than spend the money on R&D for a new one :D .
Jona33 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Siamese twin maybe? Interesting theory. :D Looks like the KF-X was the one to get the guts. ;) Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
marcos Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Interesting theory. :D Looks like the KF-X was the one to get the guts. ;) I think the KF-X will be the one that gets stillborn.
aaron886 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Looks like there is a permanently mounted FLIR on the left side so this must be A2G prepared close support aircraft. (HJ) Doesn't even look remotely permanent.

marcos Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 As projects go, an aircraft can be flying for 20 years before it enters service and this is just a scale model.

Exorcet Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 I think the general "look" of performance military aircraft will converge as computer modeling becomes the norm due to the simple fact that aerodynamics is what it is. I don't know. Aerodynamics is what it is, but the ideal shape depends on your goals. Stealth is probably more of a factor when it comes to similar design, but it's not guaranteed to make everything look the same (YF-23). I wonder if they will use Saitek hotas on the production unit too It's an excuse for the new Saitek KF-X HOTAS. Only $1,000. Price hike comes from painstaking accuracy that is 100% identical to the real fighter.
