159th_Falcon Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Ok, so ive been reading the forums a bit and it seems that MODS would in the future be installed in the saved games folder to avoid users from having to install them again after an auto-update. Which is good. But, i have my C drive on a small SSD, 60GB (and others maybe as well?) Is there anyway to let the game use a different folder on for example my E drive? winz Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Windows 7/Vista - Right click on Saved Games, or any other user folder (My documents..etc), location tab, move button :) The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
[DBS]TH0R Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 In general it is good to have a backup, i.e. to keep your important files on the HDD. Even though SSDs have came a long way some of them are still known to crap out on you - and like yourself, most peple have 60 GB ones. What you're looking for is "mklink", the command that will essentially move all the folders and files you want to a new location and leave only "a shortcut" in place. 159th_Falcon Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Thanx, i knew it was something in properties, but couldn't find it. BTW, is it normal that not all folders have a "location" tab under properties? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
MadTommy Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 BTW, is it normal that not all folders have a "location" tab under properties? I think it is only 'special' windows folders that have that. Ones under Users.. i believe. (My Docs, My Music etc.) These are linked folders.. not real folders. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. EtherealN Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 MadTommy is correct. There are ways around this, but they are convoluted and in every way an absolute "hack". (Resting on the same mechanisms as allow you to have a 'Recycle Bin' on network drives.) Overall I'm quite happy with Windows 7, but this is one of the deficiencies where I really long back to UNIX. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
159th_Falcon Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Hehe, have used Linux myself for a while, only reason i dumped it was that i couldn't play DCS in it. Thanx for the info all. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
