I'm gonna have to take a closer look at this. That bit about the Set Frequency is interesting.

 

The Datalink not working in BS2 is annoying me to no end.

I have created a couple of simple 'Create Fast Missions' to test the Datalink in this latest version.

 

In every case I am able to assign a datalink target either by myself or have my wingman carry out a reconnaissance. I can 'send' the target to my wingman and order him to "attack datalink targets". He will always reply Roger or Affirm then fly towards the targets, but half way there he just turns around and says "Rejoin" without firing a shot ??

 

This has worked perfectly in previous versions, I'm really getting disillusioned with ED's quality control lately. The fun has gone out of Blackshark 2 with this broken Datalink / AI attack problem :(

I know this is obvious. But you confirmed the target was a enemy? Because if the target is a friend or neutral, he not attack and make a rejoin.

 

In my test last night (GOW Campaign), my wingman attacked the datalink targets.

That's a very good point, but in my case I can confirm it was the enemy each time. He seems to get the datalink because he always acknowledges the command, and then he flies in the direction of the datalink target but then turns around and says rejoin before he gets there.

 

Just had a thought, they were moving targets so perhaps they moved from his target area. Never had this problem before though, as I use Datalink all the time, just in the last couple of updates.

Can't get my Wingmen to do anything with datalinks.

 

I'm redownloading and reinstalling, see if that works.

With 1.2.2 update the DL problem was solved. Now i can use it like before. Even I can send an initial point of attack and he follows as ordered. If you send the position of a ground moving target and order to your wingman to attack it, he would not find it because the target has moved... it has sense although I do not remember if I did it before. Anyway many thanks to ED guys, great job!!!!

I cant give istruction with datalink too in 1.2.2...i press \ and nothing happen......

 

Use RAlt + \ to open radio menu. :thumbup:

Can any of the ED Testers confirm if the Datalink problem has been fixed in 1.2.2 please.

 

I have just read the manual again to make sure I'm doing it right. My Wingy appears to get the Datalink target ok, then flies towards the target and even at one point said "Attacking Target" - then blow me he did a 180 and said "Rejoin" without firing anything, with the target right in front of him ????

 

I then gave him a general "Attack Ground Targets" command and he killed everything in site :doh:

Mine does the same thing, only when he returns he crashes into the other wingman who has taken up his position.

Yes, it appears sending data-link targets work again, but something goes wrong when you tell your wingman to attack the specific target you assigned. Haven't done any extensive testing, but I think telling him to attack the target's group works at least, so I suppose that works as a workaround to at least make missions more playable for now.

 

Do orders to attack targets by type also take into account targets assigned through data-link, or only targets the wingman "knows" about?

 

Edit: I restored some graphics tweaks again from before the patch trying to minimize the performance loss I'd noticed in the mission I used to test this and the wingmen seem to attack properly now. I suppose the sim was simply too busy when the wingmen tried to lock targets with the schkval and failed? Might be a fluke, but could be worth checking if lowering your settings makes the problem go away.

Right, did some more testing !

 

When the wingman has been sent the Datalink target, it appears if you assign him 'Group', as the last poster said, he will attack the targets.

 

So when giving him Datalink targets, you have to select either 2. Targets or 4. Targets by type. If you use 1. Target or 3. Target by Type he wont attack.

 

Maybe something for ED to look into.

Maybe focus should be on fixing the modules that has been implentet into DCS world (KA-50, A-10C, P-51D) before adding more content, like CA and FC3.

 

It´s a bit irritating to see serveral releases of new updates, but no fix for this issue.

 

For me DCS World has also become less stable with the last two updates.

 

I have returned to BS2 1.1.1.1 for now...

Hehe, for sure i've got some nice application CTD since 1.2.2 (was it 1.2.1?)

The fact, if you're following my previous post (bugs and glitches summary) that ED resolved some ugly AI bugs, and keeps adding EXCELLENT options in Mission Editor.

 

And just because of those awesome updates, i feel myself not able to re-fly a previous version ever. They're narrowing more and more bugs, i takes some time, but hopefully, they will make it. I only wish Datalink is on top-list.

Right now, i have 1.02, 1.1 and 1.2.0 full packages sleeping on my hdd. think they will enter stasis.

I have requested twice now, very politely, for any of the Devs or Testers to comment on this problem post 1.2.2. As I haven't had one answer I assume fixing this problem is very low on their current priorities.

 

I have always been very impressed in the support given by ED and their determination to fix anything that's broken, but in this case the Datalink / Wingman attack problem is ruining the sim gameplay but they don't seem interested, even a comment would be nice ?

I couldn't agree more, in SP the datalink was working kind of, but now with DCSW version 1.2.2.7286 it is doing as you say, wingman will take a datalink transmission, confirms he will attack with roger, then flies around for a little while with out firing a shot, then returns to formation.

 

Restarted mission again, and some datalinking to Wingman 2, and this time the AI worked fine and attacked all targets.

 

I have only noticed these problems lately, because I have been putting datalink controls on to VAC voice control and really trying to train myself to use the system very efficiently. The non-functional system has only confused me and led to lack of playing with game.doh.gif

 

Hope it is fixed soon.
