Been rattling along in WWI crates in RoF:ICE for 6+ months (spent 150$ on planes and mods alone!!) But it's a great sim!

Got bored of the high-tech, a while, and forgot about DCS, and my computer were struggling with both BS2 and A10 .. Now I'm on the same computer as before the break, running a lot of crap i the background.. and it runs flawlessly! at a lot higher settings then I used before. No matter how much things happen on the ground, and in the air, and whatever weather!

The only time it slows down noticeably is when multiple things pour rockets on a small area, guess the smoke/explosion combo is still a bit too much for my old comp..

Just a little thank you post! For making it both better and smoother, and not adding so much new silly GFX that I would have to buy a new computer!

Will actually buy FC3 too! (but not p51 or ...ground-thingie.. yet)

Will also cling onto Rise of Flight, as it might sound easy and relaxing with a simple WWI plane, it's almost more work to keep that one in the air, then doing a blindfolded rampstart :music_whistling:

Still the same comp as 2½ years ago, and it runs better now!!

Welcome back.

Its funny we have just seen a number of posting moaning about performance and unnecessary graphics effects ruining playability. Its good to hear both sides of the story.

Personally I'm with you, much improved effects and still good performance.

The one thing about DCS, is no matter how powerful the PC it is very easy to bring it to its knees with over ambitious mission design. Its all about getting a good balance within mission design.

same here, im running all settings on high, and in 1.2.0 i was stable at around 30-35 fps. after 1.2.1 im at 35-40 in the same mission ! only time it stutters with me is also if im flying low and fire off some rockets or with the gau8.

anyway the stutters last for about 5 seconds so it's really not bothering me so much. :D

Welcome back, I know the appeal of ROF, would hate to think how much I've spent on it, but needless to say, my hangers full, and I've got every campaign, mod and add on there is. However I think I've only flown 20% of the aircraft I own. Love the business model and the feeling of flight ROF brings.

I think that's one of the reasons I'm excited with the way Ed is going. Again, I'm planning to own every aircraft, even if I only fly one or two. It's the best way of supporting these amazingly talented teams that are working their magic for us.

The future is extremely bright for us simmers at the mo.

Only one issue I'm having and that is how I divide my time between, ROF, DCS and even FSX. Really need more hrs in the day.

I also just returned to the game as I got sick of bad performance - Adding an SSD completely removed the annoying stutters I used to get. For anyone still running an RPM drive, I suggest immediate upgrade if money allows!

Welcome back.

I see that you are from Sweden. If you are looking for multiplayer action check out Master Arms. Check my signature.

I need to relearn rampstarts again before I can do any good, else I don't remember where a certain button is located, if trouble occur and I need to restart or stop something, on a seconds notice :) But it sounds interesting!

I only buy planes, mods, campaigns, and modules I think I would like, that is why DCS: Combined Arms will not get my money for quite a while, since I'm a spoiled Steel Beasts Pro PE tanker too.. And so far only play DCS SP. If they made a Fully Dynamic Campaign (Falcon 4 style) I'd pay 'til my wallet cried (wish I had a better memory, and more free time on my hands :) ) and not DCS: P-51D Mustang since I'm not interested.. and not even sure why they spent time making it!?

..and 'contra-productive' things like that does not get my monetary support. Even if they had it almost ready for some reason, (I guess I will eat those words when they make some really interesting plane that I just have to have!) but there are still bug's in the Black Shark 2, and the A-10, and no nevada from being away for 6 months!? (not that I care much for the nevada, as it will me a frame-rate killer I guess (for me at least)) but the desert could be used for other areas with some luck? :music_whistling:

I'm actually on three old 7200 rpm 500gb Western Digital Caviar drives.. and don't notice any slowdowns from them.. and they are the big 'letdowns' in my 'windows experience' score.

But if I would loose c:\ or have to do a reinstall.. it would take me a week to get my comp to where it is today! So that (and the fact that I haven't yet checked if my old MoBo supports SSD) is why I don't run any SSD yet.. and read about a guy here that had problems with SSD as main drive only when running DCS !?

Yeah I spoke too soon anyway! BS2 performance is absolutely screwed for me lol.

To be honest though, SSD is worth it alone for the windows experience. Everything is instant.
