awdrgyjo Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I seem to have a lot of trouble dropping unguided CBU's [87/97] in CCIP mode, the problem seems to compound itself when 3/9 and 5 mil CR are selected. the drop line stays dashed and does not turn solid, I wondered if this was happening because I made the target a SPI, or mark point, but this should make no difference, any thoughts thanks in advance.
SmokeyTheLung Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 CBU-97s in particular require a fairly steep dive for the pipper or bomb solution to be in the HUD field of view. If you want to drop with a shallow dive, say -5°, use CCRP mode and drop the nose System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
Corvus Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I think it's because of CBU high drag. You need to keep a stable descend, at i would say around -20 degrees to get CCIP pipper and solid line. My YT channel https://www.youtube.com/user/corvuscorp81
Eddie Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 If you're using CCIP CR you don't need a solid PBIL. When the pipper is over your DMPI, press and hold the weapon release and maintain a stable flight path. The weapons will be released at the proper moment in order for them to hit the designated point, just like when using CCRP.

wess24m Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Is there supposed to be a pbil for ccrp dropping cbu 105's? Use CCRP with all guided weapons such as the 105.
Nerull Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I don't see why you'd use CCIP for a CBU type ammo. It needs to open at a certain altitude so if you take too much time aligning during the dive there won't be a valid solution since they won't be able to open. I always use CCRP with CBU ammo so I can drop from high and far away (I hate manpads!!) and still achieve a good kill. What'd be the advantage of going CCIP with CBU ammo? (Except for the good old Stuka bomber feeling?)

(Except for the good old Stuka bomber feeling?) CCIP with CR it a perfectly valid procedure with CBUs. for one in CCIP-CR you don't need to be in a constant dive and two you can in allot of cases get ordinance on target faster as you don't have to designate anything just put the pipper on target and press-hold from there. no spi or targeting required ...just the good ole mk1 eyeball if you are using unguided CBUs as the poster mentioned, dropping them from high alt via ccrp can cause accuracy problems Arduino,EOS and Helios Tutorial Static ATC menu mod
