wasn't there a case of apache helis crashing when hitting in wires in albania during the Yugoslavia '99 war of aggression? ..

Two Apaches crashed, neither hit wires. One was settling with power (vortex ring state) and the other was uncommanded roll at low level from a malfunctioning backup control system (BUCS).

Does anyone have any info/video links showing this wire cutter in action in real life?

I don't think so, but who knows what you could find on the Internet. I do know that Bell did some tests with a 206 (OH-58) using a pendulum-type setup where they setup some wires and let the helicopter swing into them for testing, but I have not ever seen a video of a real wire strike. They are quite rare, fortunately.

Yep must be hard to get the wire strike so that it will pass over the windscreen and into the cutter I would guess a'lot of wire strikes are very random with the wires touching the rotor blades where this would seem to be no help for that.

Guess this is more for if you have time and you're hitting them level on.

what happened to those A-6 intruders who crashed in italy when they hit ski-cables..

i can only assume the A-6 got his tail clipped and crashed cuz of that..

if thats so, should it be okei for planes to cut through electrical wires in DCS without crashing..

Alpha One Six posted the FAA document where you can find the WSPK limitations - basically anything above .80" diameter, less than 60° off course, and more then 5° movement in elevation, and if below 30kts, will get you in trouble.

Just be glad there are no anti-helicopter mines simulated in DCS
