cltmmm Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Question... pilots' or planes' fault? :) http://tinyurl.com/chwhtjf
maturin Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 The possibility has been raised that they weren't trying to hit at all.
stubboyo Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 We should be able to give this a try in DCS World. I think we'll find it's pretty easy to take down a Predator in a Su-25 - get on its six and line up. If you miss, it's not like the Predator can engage in dramatic BFM - you just circle around and have another go. I think the Iranian pilots were just showing some bravado rather than trying to actually down the drone.
AlphaOneSix Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Reaper EDIT: Sorry, what I mean is that in the picture above with the Su-25's, that's a Reaper not a Predator. Edited November 9, 2012 by AlphaOneSix
aaron886 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Looks horribly photoshopped. The angles and sizes of the aircraft are strange, at the very least.
AlphaOneSix Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Well at first glance it looks fine to me. Obviously the Su-25's can't fly as slow as the Reaper, and the picture to me appears to show them behind and flying past and to the left of the Reaper. Like a high speed pass in a way. Also the Reaper is clearly (at least in my estimation) in the foreground while the Sukhois are farther away.
Kenan Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Perhaps the drone operator was continously hitting PrtScrn and this is why Iranians couldn't hit it? 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . JABO2009 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I think they tried to shoot at it but suddely experienced heavy FPS loss and warping :D Intel I7 - 10700 K @ 3,80GHz / 64 GB DDR3 / RTX 3090 / Win 10 Home 64 bit / Logitech X56 HOTAS / HP Reverb G2 Running DCS on latest OB version
marcos Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Maybe they were trying to force it to land to get their hands on the technology.
Stickers Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Perhaps the drone operator was continously hitting PrtScrn and this is why Iranians couldn't hit it? lol! Who really knows what this is about. It sounds more like a propaganda story to me. Hey look! "They can't even shoot down our UAVs!" Maybe the Iranians were just doing free gun training on a flying target?
marcos Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 If they could have got a rope on it, it would have made a great TRD.
