xjiks Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) I guys, I'm trying to see how the fuel tanks can be used on the KA-50 and here's the test i'm doing: Step 1: Taking of from ramp, I set my fuel quantity to approx. 3% and empty payload I start the APU and engines as usual and increase full throttle to burn fuel faster After some quick time the engines shutdown Step 2: I load again 3% of fuel and add 2 fuel tanks in my payload I start the APU and engines as usual and increase full throttle to burn fuel faster After some quick time the engines shutdown. (no difference between step 1 and 2) Step 3: Exactly the same with 4 fuel tanks, my engines stop after a few minutes. (no difference between step 1,2 and 3) The problem is aft and back tanks are empty but I should gain fuel from the external tanks, why is this not happening ? I tried to activate the Cross-feed, but activated or not, the fuel doesn't come to the engines. Could someone help me, maybe I'm missing something ? xjiks Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Try to activate first the external inner or outer fuel pumps. Yes, yes I did it ! I will provide a track, but no time for the moment, I just want to be sure they are working as intended for at least one other people L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. Esac_mirmidon Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Strange but you are right. 3% internal fuel only, 4 external tanks, external fuel pumps on, cross feed open. When the internal fuel tanks are empty the engines shooted down. I thought that when the external fuel pumps are open the fuel flows inside internal tanks until the external are empty. Then the engines use the internal until they are empty also. But inside the simulator with internal almost empty and external loaded they don´t flow into internal tanks filling it, no matter the external pumps are on. Very strange. Someone could enlight us please? Maybe a bug? " You must think in russian.." Razor5-1 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I suspect a bug, I followed what I used to do previously but it didn't work.
Esac_mirmidon Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 More in deep test and yes it works as intended. 100% internal fuel / 50% / 40 % / 10% and 5% tests. After star up , the moment i turn on AC right and left generators the External and Internal Fuel Pump lights are on in the upper side of the cockpit. From this moment ( with outer an inner fuel pumps on and cross valve open ) the internal fuel tanks are filled with external fuel. Note that until AC generators are on the external inner an outer fuel pumps don´t lit up in the upper panel, so the are not working. After the generators are on the pumps works perfect and the internal fuel tanks are filled. Now i want to make another test with 3%, maybe it´s the magical number but with 100%-50%-40%-10% and 5% works perfect. " You must think in russian.." Esac_mirmidon Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) No bug, works perfect, also with 3% internal fuel. Make sure that: External outer or/and inner fuel pumps are open. Cross valve are open ( you don´t need it, it´s only for fuel cross between internal tanks but leave it open) When engines are on, and power setting set up, make sure AC left and right generators are on. Make sure green lights in the upper side of the cockpit " Outer Fuel Pump " " inner fuel pump " are ON. The internal fuel tanks are filled with the external fuel as intended. Strekaya Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Having just done some testing myself, I can also add that it also works fine if you request ground electrical power and activate the relevant external feed pump by itself. (My test was also with only 50kg fuel and a pair of external tanks). I didn't try turning on the internal fuel pumps or engage the cross feed, but the tank slowly filled all the same.
Xjikz Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Thanks for the explaination, I will continue the testing, I'm glad to learn something new :) Proud to be a [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :joystick::pilotfly::book:
Xjikz Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Edit: that's my fault! I was used to turn on the AC generators just after the batteries, and so the external pump lights where never lit on the upper board ! Now everything's perfect, I must add that when the internal tanks (aft and back) are empty, all the fuel from the externals are transfered in to the internal tanks. The pilots continues to know how much fuel remains. - start with 3% and 2 tanks - when fuel is 0% the two tanks are drained to refuel the internal (aft and back tanks) - fuel gauge increases from 0 ton to 1 ton of fuel remaining ! That's just great, thanks everyone ! Proud to be a [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :joystick::pilotfly::book:
lubey Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Just in case anyone else is having this problem, you also need to have the "weapons system" switch on (just next to the 3 ejection system switches) for the fuel pumps to work. I learnt this the hard way in the "courier" mission where I didn't turn on weapons because the shark wasn't loaded with any.
