3Sqn_Sven Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Strobe lights. Pretty simple, one on top and one underneath. LOMAC has the nav lights, and they're cool. I wonder if strobe lights could ever be included. It's more of a bell's and whistles thing, but they could be cool and simple in 1.2 A suggestion Dev's. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
33 309th_Hedgehog Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Yes, I agree. It should be very simple to code that and it would bring a lot of "realistic feeling". Everytime I see a real aircraft I see exactly that point as main difference to LockOn. Trident Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Russian combat-aircraft usually do not, which is probably why they are not modelled in LOMAC (Flanker heritage).
169th_Dredd Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Right on Sven. This would be a great addition to the surrealism of this sim. :) ---= 169th Panthers -Flt Lt.- =--- http://www.169thpanthers.com.au AMD64 S939 3700 | 2GB Corsair DDR500 | 21" CRT ATI Radeon X800Pro | 2x36GB WD Raptors | SB Audigy TIR3 | TM-868 | X52 | CH Pedals | Creative 5.1 Spkrs
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Good call Sven. Not to hijack the thread but how's training going Sven? LOC, Shad and I wish you the best!
Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 There is an add-on that does that, I haven't tested it though. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=search&query=strobe%20light
33 309th_Hedgehog Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 There is an add-on that does that, I haven't tested it though. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=search&query=strobe%20light Disagree with you, Thomas. The AddOn you mean does only switch the NAV Lights on and off which is wrong: NAV lights are steady on, strobe lights are flashing. The mentioned add on give you just a kind of feeling that there should something blink (because there are no strobe lights) ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog :: Saitek Rudder :: Track IR5 :: EVGA 3 GB GTX580 :: AMD FX-8120 :: SSD 240 GB :: Win7 Ultimate 64
Sinner6 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Seeing the occasional bird flying around would be cool. A couple civilian planes for the AI would be good for mission builders. ...and flashing beacons. :)
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Seeing the occasional bird flying around would be cool. I'd like to see the occasional bird sucked into the intake of some of the guys that shoot me down. ;)
SuperKungFu Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 doesnt MS2004 have strobe lights. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
3Sqn_Sven Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 Yeah training is going well Rugg. Thanks for the well wishes. Will chat to you about it another time when we're both in HL. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region

Brit_Radar_Dude Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Don't forget that the lighthouses in Lockon flash at night, so strobes on aircraft ought not to be too big a deal? Of course I'll want flashing lights on TV/Radio masts, oil rigs, etc. too. :icon_wink 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Prophet_169th Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Would be nice of those lights had the same effect as the landing lights. We be cool to see the coming from the lighthouses, and building windows. I bet that would kill FPS though.
SwingKid Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Is there not already a key that cycles lights from solid-flashing-off? Maybe it's only for AFM Su-25(T)? -SK

But that isn't the same as strobe lights i think... i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Sven, when you say one on top and one on bottom, are you sure you're talking about strobes? It almost sounds more like you're talking about the beacons.:D
3Sqn_Sven Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm talking about strobes. When I go flying I turn "nav lights on, strobe lights on" which turns on the red and green nav lights, and the red a white strobes. Probably differs from plane to plane and country to country. Everything else does. And whats the deal with airline food? 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
Guest ruggbutt Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 And whats the deal with airline food? Czech Air has fantastic food. And all the beverages you want, no extra charge. Anyone wanna guess how many screwdrivers I downed on the 10 hour flight there? ;)
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Roger that, Sven. I was just wondering because the red, rotating/flashing beacons on the top and/or bottom of US aircraft are generally not used in flight. Lufthansa had pretty good food also. :D
Footy Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Haven't played MS2004 in a while but I believe it does. doesnt MS2004 have strobe lights.
