Guys the five LED's below the friction wheel can be turned on or off, can you use them/program them for an indication or something within the sim?

If so what do you use them for?

Best Regards

you can set them up to turn on and off in the target software. if you set up the target software for other games by moving the toggle switches the lights will come on and off. Personly i have no use for it as i dont use the target software.

Do you have the Target software installed? You don't have to run a target profile to turn the led's off, just launch the software and go in and disable the led's, close the target software , and they will remain off until you go back in and turn them on again.

And you can change the intensity of the LED's too through TARGET.

Just wondered if anyone used them for anything, it would appear not lol

Indeed. To turn the lights off one have to :

1. install the software and launch the software

2. go in and disable the led's

3. close the target software

4. uninstall the software

and they will remain off UNTIL you restart the PC.

So don't uninstall TARGET. The Thrustmaster FAST service uses no CPU time and @4Mb RAM. Practically invisible.

Found a way to turn off the lights. Actually disables all of it. I have now 2 batch files in my desktop on.bat and off.bat for enable and disable the respective root usb.

Isnt it possible to indicate something out of the Sim with these 5 Led's? Like Gear status or Speedbrake or something...? That would be great!

Thank you arctic, thats what I was meaning. I was actually thinking of speedbrake, would be really handy if you could use all five as 20% lights, coming on progressivley as the speedbrake extends...

Whoa whoa whoa. You're telling me those 5 white dots below and to the right of the friction wheel are LEDs?

Mine aren't lit up. They've never been lit up... ever... and I've never installed TARGET.

Yep, these white dots are LED's.

And until now they're useless! :( You can turn them on and off with the Target software... but why should i do that^^...

Speedbrake indication every 20% would be perfect

YEP!

I am going to have a look see if anything can be done in target.....

Well looks like its possible through target but its very confusing and when you use target you have to use it for all commands and it loses the plug and plug function within DCS, looks like a long term project to lkearn target and write a full script lol.

Learning Target is really not all that bad, I came from the Cougar with the Foxy software, and Target is certainly very different from that. Of course for A-10C I do not use Target as it is plug and play, but I have written profiles for some of my other flight sims. I use the GUI under advanced programming, and it is not too hard to get the hang of. I started off reading and using the Target manual for reference, until I became comfortable with using it.

Yeah, I too am at a loss for why people are so opposed to TARGET. I too came from Foxy and so learning TARGET was a fairly painless transition. Up until a few days ago every sim profile I created was in TARGET. It was only this past weekend when I decided to give a try to setting up my profiles entirely within DCS and not relying on TARGET at all, thus making switching between aircraft so much simpler. To my surprise, within DCS's UI I can recreate about 95% of what I had in TARGET.

The big drawbacks, in my view, are the more complicated commands in TARGET that you simply cannot recreate within the DCS UI, things like CHAIN (chaining a bunch of commands to occur in a row with just one button press) and TEMPO (short press of a button generates one command, long press generates another).

Anyway, back to the topic at hand -- I too didn't realize that those five white dots were LEDs! I was always wondering what in the heck people were talking about when they discussed turning LEDs on and off. :)
