mr_mojo97 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Not sure why but it now takes 3-4 times to upload correctly. Never used to be like that. Any ideas? JujuMan Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Alignment takes about 4-5 minutes on the CDU since a couple of updates ago iirc. I use the time to set up weapon parameters, tacan radios etc... Also time to make a cup of tea.;) _________________________________________
mr_mojo97 Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 Just once i've switched CICU on and wait for the DTS upload page to come up, when i press Load All, i usually have to do this a few times before the data/map comes up. Also the white caution message in the lower left of the MFCD's extinguish. Any controller/keyboard conflicts affecting it? Changed anything recently. _________________________________________

jeproject Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I had this problem when I first tried the training missions. Hasn't happened in a while and its happening right now even though I've played several other missions tonight and it's been fine. Click DTS upload, wait for dots, then select TAD. The steerpoints etc are there just no colour map underneath everything. Obviously forgetting to do something but I don't know what.
Flagrum Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 The steerpoints etc are there just no colour map underneath everything. That depends on where you are. The graphical map display does not cover the whole of Georgia - at least not for every resolution. 1

carrollhead Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 You have to wait a tiny bit for the data to be "available". Watch the CDU screen after power on, and you'll see a message like "DTS upload complete" or something appear briefly on the alignment page. After that you just go ahead and "load all". I guess the CDU (or whichever widget is responsible) has to read the cartridge before it can upload all the data. A bit like the few seconds it takes your PC to think about whatever device it is you've plugged into a USB port. (I think!) 1

A bit like the few seconds it takes your PC to think about whatever device it is you've plugged into a USB port. (I think!) This would make sense but I retried loading the DTS data lots of times, even after the allignment was complete. I don't have this problem usually it just loads right away. Could it be something to do with the mission editor? I have no idea. I don't want to keep "winging it". I need to know what I'm doing wrong when the map doesn't show. I tried researching which areas of the theatre aren't available as a map but I can't find any information on that. I had a few good runs today where I took out a bunch of tanks using the Maverick K's so my frustrations with this are cancelled out. Thanks for the reply, I will try it and look for that message on the CDU and see if that is what my problem is. I have a feeling if you try and do something to early you are eternally (for that mission) punished for it.
Kaiza Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 You won't see your position on the map until your EGI has aligned, as otherwise the system doesn't know where you are. This does not mean that your DTS upload has not worked though, just that your EGI is still aligning. So you are doing everything right, you just need to wait until your EGI has aligned before you see your TAD. Your DTS upload is fine. jeproject Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 How do you know when EGI has alligned?? I'm waiting for the CDU to show as alligned then enabling EGI. I thought that was it. Is that what you meant?
carrollhead Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Once you get the "INS NAV READY" message flashing on the CDU, then the alignment is done. Clicking the "NAV" mode on the right hand side of the CDU page is all you need to do in order for the EGI system to track your movements. What's happening when you click "EGI" on the NMSP panel, is that the instruments will now display what the EGI system thinks is your current position, attitude etc. You'll notice there is no TVV on the HUD until you select EGI mode for example. In other words, the EGI is already working after the alignment, and selection of NAV mode. The button marked EGI slaves some of the dials, the HUD etc to the output of that particular system. The reason for this is simply that if for some reason the EGI fails during flight (It's almost always a BMP ha ha), then there are other options available for you to use. The NMSP panel is basically a switch that governs which data source your instruments read from in order to display the things they do. (Not all of them, but that's taking the discussion a little too far I think!) Next time you do this, watch what happens to the HSI when you hit EGI. The DTS UPLOAD page isn't just loading navigation data, it populates the DSMS and some other stuff too. Whether this stuff lives on a data cartridge or not I don't know. I, for example will generally not hit the "LOAD" button until I've finished re-arming etc. That way, I only need to complete the LOAD process once. There's usually more than enough time after re-arming to load the data, configure the weapons and exchange healthy abuse with squadmates whilst the EGI aligns :) That's how I understand it at least - someone what knows more than me might well correct me too! Hopefully that helps :)
jeproject Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Well if that's the case than waiting for anything to allign is not my problem as I have done all that. I'm going to hope that Flagrum is correct and that I was just in a location that is not mapped. Else I have no idea what it is and have seen no one else with the problem. Edit: just want to reiterate that it doesn't happen all the time so whatever I am doing wrong, I am only doing it some of the time.
carrollhead Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 The easy way to tell is to make the TAD SOI, and zoom out a bit. There are different levels of map in there, and if all you see is a black TAD, then that should fix it. Also if you set FLIGHT PLAN on the rotary switch aft of the CDU, you should still see you FP lines - just no map if there isn't one available at that location and zoom level :)

I really hope that's all it was. I've gotta pop out then I will test zooming out the TAD. I only tried setting the map mode between auto/man before. If that's what it is I will be well happy.
carrollhead Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I hope so :) - Keep in AUTO or it won't automatically switch between the map layers available.
Dejjvid Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Anyone know where to edit the default DTS parameters like Slew rate on the throttle? As in .lua file so you don't have to change it each startup.
