sotosev Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 hi, Today I thought to make night air to air refueling flying A-10C. My problem is, I couldn't see Tanker in the night. I navigate by TACAN reaching Tanker at 1 Knot. I know I am behind it near but can't see it. I wonder if it's possible for Tanker to fly without lights? Any info by someone already did it would be great. Jona33 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Use the NVG's. Rshift+H Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Rainbowed Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 did you try to use NVG? =怒火雄鹰= LockBay http://www.lockbay.cn [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic88944_7.gif[/sIGPIC]
danny875 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Here is something that I read, Tanker Rejoin- NVGs may be worn for night tanker rejoins, but will be raised to the up and stowed position or removed no later than the pre-contact position through the actual contact and AAR. Goggles can be returned to the “on” position post AAR, while still with the tanker. Seems like NVGs are a no no for refuelling.....
redfish Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Agreed , use NVG and TACAN to navigate to tanker precontact position. When refueling, turn off NVG and use nose light when hooking up to contact position. PFunk1606688187 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 The thing to remember is that monitor wash when displaying very black things is a heck of a lot less realistic than the night vision you'd get even if you have console lights in a real cockpit and have just used NVGs. Its a problem when playing any truly dark night games. The quality of your monitor will determine a lot of the clarity you experience. Also, in real life you'd have people on the other end talking to you, but in this game you're basically doing it with no help. Its possible, but its not ideal is it. :P Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Snaut Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 If you contact the tanker with 'intent to refuel' they will turn the lights on and tell you the altitude. Maybe it's my screen but I can see the brighter outline of the tanker over the black sky, no NVG needed. MSI GTX 770 2GB -> 1920x1200, MSI H97M, Xeon 1231v3, 16GB
PFunk1606688187 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 en but I can see the brighter outline of the tanker over the black sky, no NVG needed. And with my monitor I can't. It has an obscene amount of wash leaking from the bezel. Not every monitor is created equal, sadly. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
KLR Rico Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I haven't tried tanking at night yet, I find it hard enough during the day as it is. :D Are the boom marker lights modeled? i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
